not in detroit but get city water from the D and my bluelab reads a consistant 8.5
Except the pipes that carry your water make the ph drop ALOT. Detroit ph is always between 6.9 and 7.1. Detroit has some of the best city water in the country.

if that were the case wouldn't my ph be lower than 6.9 and 7.1 not higher at 8.5

Lower numbers mean more acidic. I meant drops the ph as in makes it less acidic, as there are many materials in the pipes that will soften the water. I always think in reverse when dealin with ph. A friend in Ann Arbor, which also gets Detroit water, had me test his water and it was 9.4. Further from the source, softer the water.

The Detroit system gives me just under 8pH up here in Oakland County. About a half teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar per gallon brings it down to @6.5pH. I usually use two teaspoons for 5 gallons.

If I use the ph vile with the drops the solution turns a little darker that light green. The colors on the bottle would indicate that being around 7.0 right from my tap. I'll get my calibration solution today and tell you guys for sure. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Just a follow up. After dialing in my blue lab ph pen the water in the Roseville area is 7.5 right out of the tap at 58 degrees. I let the pen sit in the cup for 24hrs and it then read 8.3. I'd assume the ph went up after the chlorine came out of the water?

whatever the case...My grow shop swapped my bad pen for a new one and even calibrated it for me. Can't beat that deal!

Thanks for that info. Check Northern lights if you havent heard it is open on Sundays as well from 12-4.

I was wondering how to calibrate my eco tester ph1 meter. I havent used it in years.......And I wonder why Im having lock outs from time to time.

lockouts could easily be because your meter may be off. calibration is simple. same way my bluelab is calibrated
