Mixing CFL and Fluorescent?

Is there any reason why CFL and Florescent should not be mixed?

Also, has anyone tried putting lights on the side as well as on the top?

what he said..

CFL = Compact Fluorescent Light

maybe do a little more reading before asking questions, the search button is right there.

CFL is fluorescent. Yes side lighting helps a lot in flowering if using the right spectrum/temp light.

Educate yourself before asking stupid fucking questions.

Alternatively you can just continue to make yourself look stupid.

maniszm,

The need to feel sanctimonious in this world is getting wayout of hand. Fuck off!

First and foremost, don't join any community and call one of the bigger contributors sanctimonious while asking his friends for help.

If you were offended that he pointed something out that should have been obvious, be slightly embarrassed and get over it because no one gives a shit. really. We don't care if you don't know what CFL stands for, hopefully you won't forget that in the future.

You joined a forum, didn't read any of the threads, and started a post seeking praise for genuinely un-original ideas.

It's ok though, we all have stupid urges, this should be remembered as such.

Get in line now or just leave the site. At this rate you're breeding a good number of trolls to follow your threads around.

As everyone said, they're the same. You should really research before seeking answers this way.

Also, has anyone tried putting lights on the side as well as on the top??
Yes, almost everyone. What was the point of this post? Were you just fishing for compliments with your new and revolutionary ideas?

One of the things I use forums for is to save time and actually avoid doing research. I feel pretty good about it. I found out that a cfl as a florescent light and all it cost me was getting called stupid by people who need to feel sanctimonious. I got some easy information and some other folks got to feel sanctimoneous. Everybody got what they wanted so I am happy. I will be posting some more questions, some stupid ones for sure.

By the way, "sanctimonious" is moral superiority, not intellectual. The word for people calling you lazy and an ass-cactus is "correct".

On the upside: You made another stupid post and learned something! Now you're up two learning experiences in one thread!

You'd rather be called stupid than spend ten seconds typing in "CFL" in google search? The first result explains the definition without even having to click it, the preview text is sufficient.

I hope you realize what you're saying. Welcome to my ignore list, not because you're stupid, but because some of the most active contributors here tried to pull you off your high horse and you basically just insulted us all.

You burned arguably the best forums for grower knowledge on a stupid definition of the abbreviation CFL, if you REALLY do feel accomplished in that I salute you, for being more simple minded then a 2 month old hamster. The only reason you got a laugh and potentially a baby mindgasm out of what you did here is because you're too easily amused to realize what you could have asked. The idiot stocking the Lowes paint department could have told you what CFL stood for, should have asked and insulted him, he's at least required to continue answering your questions despite your insults. We are not.

I gave you a chance to be decent and just apologize for being a dick.

Ok buddy, welcome to my ignore list. I'm not interested in helping someone like you.

BTW, thanks for the signature.

Yeah do some research. People get tired of seeing the same questions get asked a million times especially the simple stuff. When I got into growing (recently) I did a lot of net research and book reading and questions to friends and local hydroponics stores before I did anything. An engineer would not build a bridge and ask every other engineer that has built a bridge "how do I lay a stable foundation", "how do I suspend the road" ect. No an engineer would have gone to college, done the research and knows how to build the bridge first before he starts to build. Learn to walk before you can run.

You guys are a bunch of fucking assholes. Isn't the whole point of these boards to have conversation, ask questions, share ideas, etc? It seems like every damn time someone asks what may seem like a simple question a bunch of fucking high and mighty dick heads want to flex their big internet muscles and demean the poster. If everyone used google for every little question on the subject of growing, this website would not be in business. That would leave you asshats with nowhere to act so fucking special. If you can't help the poster, keep the smart assed remarks to yourself. I thought stoners were supposed to be a bunch of easy going happy folks, not stuck up know-it-alls.

That's got to be one of the stupidest remarks I've ever read. How exactly does one educate themselves without asking stupid questions? Isn't that like getting in shape before going to the gym? Learning how to swim before getting in the pool? People come here to learn, not to be talked down to. You made a choice to open the thread, read the question, and respond to it. It would have been much simpler for you to hit the back button and move on. But you chose to post your demeaning response. Take your own advice, and take the easy route next time. If you don't like the thread, get the fuck out.

Hey, i know you want to parade for the underdog, i'm not disagreeing with your point of ethics, but you need to go back in this thread and notice that the dude asking the question is the person that got rude first.; and to me, for no reason.

I spend about a good chunk of my day answering stupid questions, but the reason i lashed out at him had nothing to do with asking stupid questions, it was because the asshat decided he wanted to be rude to people that pointed something out to him.

After that everyone just jumped on the troll bandwagon, because that what happens when someone starts tossing out insults.

I saw him ask a question. Quite simple, sure. Easily solved with a quick google search? Sure.

The first responder told the OP the answer to the question. Great!

Next, a guy had to get a little snobbish. Perhaps not completely rude or obnoxious, but telling someone to do more research before asking questions is a roundabout way of telling someone that they're a fucking idiot on the subject and not worthy of their company. Mind you, this person chose to post in the OP's thread.

So then the OP freaks out. Maybe not the best response, but what exactly do you expect when he asks a question and two responses in someone has already "nicely" told them to gtfo until they learn more?

Easy solution to this. Either answer the stupid question in a civil, helpful manner, or don't post at all. Nobody asked you to read or post in the thread. It is your right to do so, just as it is my right to call you (I'm not speaking directly to any one person here) out for being a high and mighty dick. But it is not necessarily in the best interest of anyone to do so.

You were super helpful on my first thread here. So I'm definitely not trying to change your defense,

But seriously, the OP tossing out fuck yous when the worst he got was a little scolding for being lazy; nothing on the verge of excessive really. Then he just started flailing around and tossing out insults...

Like i said, I appreciate the time you take to answer questions, but when someone's 3rd post on the forum contains "fuck you" after his question is answered it says alot about the type of person, or member he's going to turn out being.

So yeah, alot of people jumped him, some of the bandwagon didn't really have any valid points. I just hate that you quoted me and spoke in less than nice terms about the subject :/

I still feel pretty good about this. Here is the issue with lights. I have about 6 48" full sized florescent light fixtures with plenty of bulbs. These are just laying around not being used. I was thinking putting those to good use if they would mix well with the with small cfl's. I could use four of them up as side lights. I have heard it said that you can't have too much light. That would add at least 320 actual watt to 400-600 equiv lights. So, thats about 800 watts in a closet sized space. I am thinking that could be overkill?

About the research: People use their time and energy in different ways. IMO asking questions on a forum is doing research. I don't mind being blocked. Please do that if what I post offends you.

The following is a good definition: Feigning piety or righteousness

Righteousnes simply means right ways. This is a way of feeling good about oneself by diminishing another. Where does this idea come from that it is proper to do research before asking a question on a forum because otherwise a question might be too elementary? The authority of anyone to suggest that others comply with that kind of standard exists only in the imaginationof the person making the suggestion.
