Biggest possible yield

What's better a lot of smaller plants or less plants that are bigger. I just wanted to see what the experts think for future grows. This grow i have 27 plants but i think it's too many b/c the lower branches aren't getting much light. I have a 1,000 w hps light.

1000 watts is ideal for 3x3.. ventilated perfectly... many people use a 1000 for larger spaces...

I saw a single plant with 1000 watt hps over head and 1400 watts of side lighting (14 - 100 watt enviro lights).. this plant was huge and trained very WELL.... it harvested 3.5lbs.. yes ONE indoor plant.. 2400 watts.. 3.5 lbs

I have also seen 17 plants under 2000 watts HPS harvest 5.6 pounds... a very tight set up with Co2, temp control, bucket system (w/hydroton rocks)

I also saw a set up with 13 plants under 3000 watts HPS and it harvested 6lbs... see picture...


Lower branches NEVER get enough light... growing plants taller than 12 inches before flowering is (90% of the time) incorrect growing, if maximum yield is your intention... (there are exceptions)

i have been growing trees for three grows now and im still not an expert i only grow four at a time and i use two 1000w and i get at lest 2lbs of good stuff and about 3/4 of a lb of small buds i keep rotating my plant so that the light get all over my plants i also keep one light low and beside the plans

So your saying a plant taller than a foot, is incorrect growing if
maximum yield is your intention?

If you do not go higher than 12" and flower, does that affect potency?

And does it matter on which species sativa or indica?

so...DO NOT grow over a ft. (12in) for maximum yield? i have an 8 bucket system and need to maximize production for sure. wut strain would u recommend(big bud?) or other.. start flowering at 12in..man that seems soon but idk..

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on a scrog for my next time around. You can have smaller plant #'s and still have a a full area of bud sites, I can't see how this won't give me the best yield I am looking for.

all about light penetration. a 600 is going to send light 3-4 feet . if you have a 4 foot plant thats not good. bottom foot is not getting good light. a small plant under a big bulb will see entire thing get fat crystally nugs. but remember those bottom popcorn nugs are still good smoke and big plants overall produce more. theres a balance like everything in life.

Opinion needed. Im sure there are experts on this board that i am hoping to get some feed back from. I have four plants under a 600 HPS. Would this be enough to get me some bud or should i purchase 1000 HPS?
