First try at DWC. Pyramid seeds Auto Purple

Alright. So this is my first attempt at DWC. My set up consists of a bucket, obviously, a 6" net pot bucket lid, 2 airstones, some airline tubing, an older dual outlet air pump, hydroton, and I'm controlling my PH with General Hydroponics test tube thingy. And my nutrients are Fox Farm Big Bloom and Fox Farm Tiger Bloom. And i put them in my cabinet full of 8 23W CFLs, along with my Spicy White Devil. Take a look and tell me what you guys think. Any advice would be awesome. :D

My set up from a top-ish view.

The Auto Purple in the rockwool in my DWC bucket. That thing thats in the rockwool is the seed. Its not buried because...well...it wont go all the way down because the taproot is too long.

I would add a little more hydroton. Enough to just cover the top of the RW cube and to block the gaps still showing in the net pot.

I'd been searching this site, looking for Auto Purple too, but when I came up with nothing, I decided to just say fuck it and grow it. Do you have a grow journal for it? I'm only a few weeks away from where you're at, but I'd still be interested in seeing your progress and how your grow goes, comparing yields at the end, etc.

bro the only 2 guesses i can make atm are: did you thoroughly wash/scrub ur hydroton pebbles before use? n how high have you got that water level? everythings looking pretty soaked..ideally within the 1st couple of weeks of veg u wanna keep the level about an inch off the bottom of the netpot, once the roots are well established and you're gettin close to flowering start letting it drop to around halfway to get an air zone happening :leaf:

Well unfortunately my SWD is now in the big soil pot in the sky. Due to stress from transplanting it, it didn't make it. Speaking of which, how do you guys on RIU transplant to cause the least amount of stress?
But good news is my little Auto Purple is doing great! But I have a question about it. It still hasn't shed its seed case, but it has a pretty big first leaf on the side that isn't still in the seed case. Should I do anything about it or wait for it to fall off? I've grown before and have had this happen, but the seed case has never stayed on until the first set of textured leaves come in (sorry I don't know technical terms). Any help would be appreciated. :)

My little Auto Purple. That white stuff is still on the hydroton, but it doesn't seem to be growing or harming the plant and I was told to not worry about it.

Sorry it took a while for an update. I went out of town for a long weekend.
She (still to be confirmed) is lookin pretty good. The seed case is still clinging to the baby leaf on the bottom of the plant, but I don't think it is that big of a deal since it has more leaves now. She's grown quite a bit since I was gone. I was also able to get ahold of another bucket as a back-up res. The res she is currently in has about 4 gallons of PH balanced and nutrient treated water in it. I also had a question: should i be concerned about the temp of the res or not? Thanks to those who are following me on this journey. :D

Grown 2 full sets of leaves since I've been gone. :D

Looking good, how many days old? 7? Not sure on the res temp question, I am a soil grower.

shoulda waited on trashing the SWD judging from the pics it looks like it may have made it, would have been an extra week or so recovering but may have pulled through

Yes, you do need to be concerned with res temps. Im guessing at this point you dont have roots coming out of the net pot yet, so you dont need to worry about slime right now. But as soon as the roots hit the water you'll need to keep temps in check.

Wouldn't it have been too stressed and had a higher chance of hermming? I still have her in the soil and I've been watering her still because she has 1 good leaf on her branches, but I'm not holding my breath for her to come back

What is the best way to keep res temps in check?
every morning i take my ppms and ph,and every morning i add RO water i have stored in the fridge..my lady is drinking about a gallon a day in a total of 7 gallons of water in RDWC.

keeps my rez temps chilly cuz i'm runnin a 600w cooltube.

no heat issues at all..lovin the cooltube!
