I have saw pictues of outdoor plants getting huge. i was wondering if anyone knew how to get them so big. my guess is you veg them indoors until theyre big (4ft tall) then transplant outdoors after the last frost, am i right? medical mj is coming to my state soon and i would like to grow the specifed amount of plants to big ol monsters. also i read in my states mmj bill it says plant must be out of public view and in a locked enclosed area....so this does mean i can build a screen house w a lock on the door for them in my backyard, right?

I have no clue how tall quality cannabis can really get however, i have a neighborhood community garden where i live and my wife and i found a male hemp plant that was oh my lord 19-20 ft tall literally hanging over a corner of our tomato garden, lmao the funny thing is the fucker has been there for who knows how long and we just barely noticed it last month! If this is any clue id say with love and proper genetics sky's the limit for these plants!

thats cool . but i would think if u started growing outdoors a 4 ft plant instead of starting a seed outdoors you would get a bigger yeild . hey man a 12 ft sativa is the shit BUT ive seen pics of indica dom plants that were about 10 to 15 ft tall x 10 to 15 ft wide as well. google some giant plants, u will be asking yourself how 1 fucking plant can get so big

thats funny VTM i said the same thing today about the plants. the sky is the limit . so it makes sense if you can veg them they only get bigger n bigger till they start to notice the changes in light.

I used to log up by the canadian border here where i live and i remember the skidder driver was this old salty vietnam vet who did his tour on a small gun boat (pt or something), he used to tell us stories of them seeing cannabis plants there that were literally tree sized! So yeah no doubt! It's just too coldd for us here in new england to ever really see where they could go outdoors!

How much previous gardening experience do you have and with what plants?

I'm currently growing "big ol monsters" outdoors, pure sativa (TFD's Original Haze) but I've kept them manageable via Bonzi drenches. I don't want monsters. I want manageable plants. They are in the stretch phase and getting really out of hand though. Had a rain last night and found some colas on the ground.

Easiest and best results is to put up in 5 gallon pots, sink the pots 3" in the ground. Give them a high N Osmocote. I'm using 18-5-9 with micros, 12 month. You will have monsters.

uncle ben, you said, " Easiest and best results is to put up in 5 gallon pots, sink the pots 3" in the ground. Give them a high N Osmocote. I'm using 18-5-9 with micros, 12 month. You will have monsters." but, y put in pots instead of directly in ground? also using a fert. with such a high nitrogen content, wouldnt the buds taste bad even if u flush? and why dig pot 3 inches in ground? thanks

The high quality soil mix you plant in is far superior to any native soils I've seen. The roots will grow thru the pot's drain holes and harvest excess nutrients and water in the native soil.

Cannabis is a flowering foliar type plant. It needs plenty of N to produce and maintain leaves until harvest. The buds taste great. I think you've been reading too many RIU posts. Flushing is a myth.

Again, how much gardening experience do you have under your belt?

Sounds like you understand what makes a plant tick, and that's all that matters.

Good luck,

High bde0001, this will be my 3rd year growing outdoors, I use 22 liter buckets (just under 6 liquid gallons) from home depot. this year all 3 plants were about 4 feet tall at planting, I prefer to use a combo of happy frog and ocean forest soils mixed with a little parilite, and of course my own recipe of nutes (everyone has a recipe preference, part of the fun of growing) feeding every 3rd watering and walla!!!:weed: video was taken a few days back.

I prefer buckets to in ground because where I'm at october is very unpredictable ( october is a very important month where I am) but this year for example, we had 25-28 degree temps for extended periods by the 5th!! and we all know what temps like that will do to our little gals!!!! then sure enough, by the 7th we were back up to the 60-70's its nice to be able to move the ladies inside when you have to!!! keep in mind, bigger is not ALWAYS better!!! managing is also something to consider, happy growing...

Did you start the seed in the 5 gallon bucket, or did you pot up a couple of times? Just curious. Everywhere I read, it's pot up, pot up. Bigger rootball or whatever. I just want to know if it helps anything. After all, in nature theyre not transplanted 1 single time. ha. Btw, I got me some 3 gallon buckets for this year. Was thinking about going 16 oz dixie cups to 1 gallons then on to the 3gallons then on to the holes. Cups to 3 gallons would be a helluva lot easier though. Thoughts? Sorry for the long post. One more thing, their going outside as soon as they sprout. Wish I had female seeds so I could stick em str8 in the ground. Thanks. This post was meant for Scroglodyte. Sorry

Friend of mine had a plant outdoors (in the ground, no pots) through the whole of winter.
Vegging it using a box with an incandescent light bulb.

Thing was about 5 meters tall when he chopped it.

Ive grown a few monster plants in my day, I have to admit it does require a lot of work. My biggest plant was about 9 feet tall and and 8 feet wide in the middle, it was heavily topped, giving it an incredible amount of top buds. I pulled a whopping pound and 5 ounces from that one plant. One thing most people forget to mention when giving steps to growing a giant marijuana plant, and that is love. Marijuana is a living, breathing creature that is well aware of its environment. Treating a plant with lots of respect, talking to it and being nice by giving it lots of food and water really helps. If your nice to the plant, It rewards you with the fruits of your labor.
