The Middle East is on Fire With American Hate

Embassies are obsolete! abandoning all of them right now would be the best thing we could do. not adding more troops to garrison an unwanted establishment
like all things that had a purpose in the past times have changed. If another country wants to contact us all they have to do is pick up a phone.

Best/shortest explanation I've seen.

Salafis set fire to a US flag during a demonstration in Amman, Jordan, against the YouTube film. Photograph: Muhammad Hamed/Reuters
The maelstrom of anti-western violence in the Arab world has little to do with an anti-Islam propaganda film released on YouTube.
It has more to do with decades of perceived western imperialism – and the organisational skills of the Salafis, known for their no-compromise, literal interpretation of the faith.
Such rightwing Islamists were wrongfooted by the Arab spring. For years, the jihadis and Salafis thought they had a monopoly on revolution and were the only viable opposition to the Arab dictators.
When the regimes were threatened by popular uprisings, the Salafis took weeks and months to respond. In Libya they initially called for the demonstrators to support the ruler of the land, Muammar Gaddafi. As it became clear that the revolutions would not instantly deliver the brighter future people had marched for, the Salafis began to use that discontent to their advantage.
They are brilliant at agitating on the streets – working on the unemployed, the frustrated, people who feel life should be better. In Tunis, the Salafi agitation began months before the propaganda film – the Innocence of Muslims – surfaced. They attacked cinemas, secularists and artists. In Bahrain and Syria they worked along sectarian lines, and in Egypt they launched vicious confrontations with the Coptic Christians.
In Libya, the Salafis have been systematically burning Sufi shrines and trashing Christian cemeteries, while the government has felt too weak to confront them. Some of the demonstrations – in Damascus, Khartoum and Tehran – will have been backed by the state.
Anti-western sentiment is rife in the Arab world. Germans, British, Danish – all are deemed guilty for the colonial crimes of the past and present. The US, of course, is perceived as the most arrogant of all, with 50 or more years of perceived bigotry, support for Israel at the expense of the Palestinians, sanctions on Iran and occupation of Iraq.
Barack Obama's Arab honeymoon was squandered by drone attacks on Pakistan and Yemen and his impotence over Israel. As Salman Rushdie wrote recently in the New Yorker about the people who led the fatwa against him: "As for the British Muslim 'leaders', whom, exactly, did they lead? They were leaders without followers, mountebanks trying to make careers out of her brother's misfortune. For a generation, the politics of ethnic minorities in Britain had been secular and socialist. This was the mosques' way of getting religion into the driver's seat."
So it is with the Salafis. Very few of the people setting fire to the German embassy in Khartoum, attacking the American school in Tunis or torching a KFC in Beirut will have even seen the Innocence of Muslims. If the prophet had really been insulted, you would see 100 million in the streets. Instead we only see a few thousand.

Romney fundraiser at George W. Bush's house

By David Jackson, USA TODAY
Updated 4h 24m ago

Former president George W. Bush hasn't been seen much this political year, but his home is about to make an appearance in Mitt Romney's campaign.
Candidate spouse Ann Romney will attend a fundraising lunch next week at the Bush home in Dallas, hosted by former first lady Laura Bush.
The ex-president himself will not be there.
"President Bush's schedule is full Tuesday and he will not be attending the women's luncheon," said a statement from his office. "But he's happy that Mrs. Bush is hosting Mrs. Romney at their home in Dallas."
Bush also will not be attending a reported Romney fundraiser later at a Dallas hotel.
The former president -- and his former president father, George H.W. Bush -- have endorsed Romney.
President Obama attributes many of the nation's economic problems to the Bush administration.
From NBC News, which broke the story:
Ann Romney will attend a fundraising lunch to raise money for husband's presidential campaign at the home of former President George W. Bush next Tuesday, a Romney campaign spokesperson confirmed. Former first lady Laura Bush will host the lunch, which is part of a Romney fundraising swing through the GOP donor-rich state of Texas, at the couple's home in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas. ...
On Monday, September 10th, Ann Romney and Laura Bush held a similar joint event together at a private home in Oklahoma City. Ticket prices ranged from $1,000 for general admission to $25,000 for a VIP reception, according to an invitation to the event posted online by the Sunlight Foundation, non-partisan group which advocates for government transparency.

Since leaving office with historically low approval ratings in 2009, the younger Bush has stayed largely out of the public spotlight. Other than telling a reporter in May that he was supporting Romney, he has not been a vocal presence in the 2012 campaign. Likewise, Romney rarely invokes the name of the most recent Republican president on the campaign trail.

Bush's father, former president George H. W. Bush, and his wife, Barbara, have been much more outspoken Romney supporters, first backing Romney last December then formalizing their support in March with a camera-friendly sit down chat at the elder Bush's Houston office. Barbara Bush even recorded robocalls on Romney's behalf during the critical primary contest in Ohio.
How is it different? Really, you think these are equal? Right after it happens, Obama goes to a party meeting and to a fund raiser. The week prior, Romney had announced plans for a fund raiser that turned out to be the same day as the murders. That fund raiser was canceled, too. You neglect to mention that, LIAR.

Big statement. Can you prove it?
It's gonna be one of those semantically unsatisfying things. Christians killed hundreds of millions, but not in their capacity as Christians. (The number then drops down to hundreds of thousands across a millennium .... Crusades and the wars of Reformation and Counterreformation as the salient blips.) It's as specious as laying the blame for the murderousness of Hitler, Stalin and Mao at the feet of atheism. cn

I don't think Hitler was an atheist, at least not publicly. Didn't he claim God had chosen the Aryans to rule the world?

"As Americans have their own idiots and fanatics, we, too, have our idiots and fanatics. And as Americans are utterly unable — probably unwilling as well — to stop their idiots, we, too, are less able to rein in ours."
An interesting way to think about it.

"The resulting cascade of outrage is now predictable," he wrote in Abu Dhabi's The National newspaper. "Islamophobes in the West will say, 'We told you they're fanatics,' and the crowd-riling demagogues here will say, 'We told you they disrespect us.' And politicians everywhere will use the language of outrage in their petty calculations."

"Some may never live, but the crazy never die-Morality is temporary, wisdom is permanent-Paranoia is just another word for ignorance-We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, fear of getting down-sized or fired because of the plunging economy, fear of getting evicted for bad debts or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer.” Hunter S. Thompson

It's a reaction to a youtube video that was done in bad taste disrespecting their religion....
Fuck them, are they human or animal?
First off this isn't because of a video, it probably has many causes that could fill many threads and has been years in the making,
but if we are to believe the official story... Fuck them and fuck those who are in charge for not leveling everyone at these "protests"
As we are taught and trained and taxed to enforce, if I call your mother a whore or call you a nigger or faggot or honkey ass cracker bitch- tough shit, deal with it, you can not beat up or behead someone because they said something mean, sticks and stones and all that..
This is what separates man from animals we can disagree or dislike eachother without violence
If they want to get animalistic our leaders have an obligation to show them who is the big dog and it should be done in a way they will not soon forget.

I never met an extremist, but I think mass campaigns of hate speech are not monopolized by religion. Political rhetoric should be fostering peace. By the same token, I think it is quite possible that Muslim extremists are politically motivated. Conservatism has all the trappings of a religion. Where is the agape?
