LIBERTY HAZE- the most perplexing strain ever?

Many are in a twinge about our most recent cannabis cup winner, Liberty Haze, from Barney's Coffeeshop. Some say it's the most potent product available. Some would disagree, even saying that it's a junk strain.

Obviously, if it were a junk strain it would have never placed, let alone won, a cannabis cup. But could it be that there are hidden properties of this rather interesting hybrid?

Liberty haze is a product of chemdawg 91, (OG Kush shares these genes) and the famous G-13. Already, it looks like we're a shoe-in.

But each week I read of more disasters in the grow room. Curling, over-stretching, unfathomably long flowering time, and other unexpected bumps in the road.

I've been growing a liberty haze along with an LSD (both female) to test Liberty Haze as a strain, but also to compare it to a more popular Barney's Farm strain.

IMG_1940.jpghere are our two beautiful subjects. On the right you see the LSD. On the left, the Liberty Haze. Note that the Liberty Haze is 3 weeks younger than the LSD and was only under 24 hour light for a week. The LSD got four nice weeks of 24 hour veg. However, you see that the Liberty Haze is taller. There is an astronomical amount of stretch in this phenotype. Liberty Haze is in her fourth week of flowering, and the LSD is in her seventh. The difference in bud size is very noticeable; I can expect at least a nine week flowering time, despite the description from Barney's Farm.

IMG_1941.jpgHere is the LSD. You can see that her buds are nicely developed. The seventh week explosion has initiated.
IMG_1942.jpgA full size can of bathroom cleaner for size comparison.
IMG_1943.jpgI couldnt resist a bit of porn here.
IMG_1944.jpgThe lower nuggets are developing nicely, and overall I would rate this pheno as very hairy; the skunk genes really show over the mazar with this one.

IMG_1945.jpgmore porn for reference.
IMG_1948.jpgI'm sorry.
IMG_1950.jpgAnyway! Here is the Liberty Haze. Here you can really see her lithe branches. There was more stretching in this plant than any other strain I've grown. However, bud structure is tight. I can expect lots of golf-ball nuggets, with many medium-sized tops. The way I fimmed her, I dont really expect huge colas.
IMG_1952.jpgHere she is from the top.

SO. I will have updates in a few days. Be sure to follow me on this one, guys; I know people have questions about Liberty Haze, and so I am more than Happy to carry you all through the remainder of this experimental grow! There will be an in-depth smoke report of BOTH LSD AND LIBERTY HAZE, and I can't wait. CHEERS!

They both are looking good. I've grown a couple of Barney's Farm strains, and I had great luck with the Pineapple Chunk. Some of my favorite smoke ever. The other was the Blue Cheese which ended up herming on me, so I chopped her. That was during my current grow which I am on Day 31 of 12/12 as of today. Like you said you here alot of bad things about Barney's Farm, but also alot of good things too. I have to admit that an 80 something day flower time is way to long for me to wait. I think anything longer than 10 weeks or 70 days is just to long. I've read alot of bad shit about this LSD that you are growing, but you seem to be having a good time with it. The Liberty Haze is still a new strain, so there hasn't been as many people growing it yet. I'm sure they had a big rush of people growing it when the seeds first dropped, since she won the Cup. But I haven't really heard much on RIU about this strain yet. I have read a couple threads on it, but they weren't very detailed. I am curious as to the kind of smell the Libery Haze has? I tend to think that the stinkier the plant is the better the bud will be in the end. I mean that plants that I have had that stink during veg have always turned out to be the best one's in my garden. That's what I like though. It's so much about personal preference in so many different catergories. Weed is such a complex plant when you think about all the different varieties of taste, smell, color, high, and etc. that this plant has to offer. I get so excited just thinking about it sometimes. Lol! I'm blazed right now, so I'm just a rambling on here. LOl!

I'm growing some of them too, I ordered 5 seeds but 2 of them didn't turn out, it's starting to look pretty good, but not close to flowering yet.

I really hope to God that my Liberty Haze doesn't take too long to finish. I only have seven more weeks left before I move.

liberty haze was LST'd. I'll have pics up soon. She's starting to develop trichomes on the leaves now, so I'm thinking an explosion of growth may be around the corner.

I have 3 of LH in flower. The strain it reminds me of in flower is Nirvana's Northern Lights. Fox tails and loose buds, but frosty.

IMG_1967.jpghere is an update of the LSD; her calyxes are beginning to swell now, so it's time to begin the flush!
IMG_1969.jpgand here is the liberty haze! I lst'd her branches down a bit, and had no idea she was really this big. you can see the LSD poking out of the corner and the Liberty Haze dwarfs her. Remember that the liberty haze is three weeks younger than the LSD so this sends a message as to how much this strain really loves to grow.

Lol bro you said seven more weeks to go, you for sure looking at at least 6 weeks but you'll be alright if you cut them a little early..

One thing you can do is lower the light hours to 10 on 14 off.. That should help her finish a little quicker. +rep
If she doesn't explode in 2 weeks I'll either do the 10/14 or try a two day dark shock.

I've noticed a change in flower structure, along with a surprising appearance of miniature trichomes all over the leaves, and some fan leaves. the stems of the leaves are all a bright red now, where previously only the larger fan leaves had red stems.

Do you think she will finish in 60-65 days
They're leaning towards Sativa dom. They are 100% clear trichs and the pistils are still looking pretty bright. 60-65 ? I'd say not on 12/12 but I have personally gone down to 10/14 on other strains without losing too much yield. The way I did it is watch for the first hint of amber after the switch and chopped 'em. I had some plants in veg that needed to go into the flower room and I'd already topped them twice.
I have noticed on my LH that the buds are looking a little more dense the past few days. The fox tails seem to be confined to the top cola. They're not that close to the light but I'm assuming it's not a heat temperate strain.

Winning the Cannabis Cup these days is almost meaningless.....it's a commercial sham and often the best items don't win. Many breeders are disgusted with the event and refuse to even participate anymore. It's important to consider some of the other winners in the various other cups thru out the world (or not).
