Auto Flower Grow (Trans Siberian & Afghan Kush Ryder)

What's up everyone?

I decided to create a journal of my first auto grow that's pretty close to a week underway. First, I germinated 8 auto seeds (5 trans Siberian, 2 afghan Kush Ryder, and northern lights blue) using the old paper towel method and received a 100% germ rate. Following germination I planted the rooted seeds in (6) 5 gallon buckets of fox farm ocean forest with only water for food. About three days in, one trans Siberian died off just after breaking the surface with its leaves. It is now 2 days from being a week old since sprouting and all look healthy with the exception of the one Northern Lights Blue, which still has not to this moment sprouted. I will be taking multiple pics of each plant frequently so be sure to check in time to time to judge and or help out! Below I will list my setup and outline of my attempted plans. Let's see what these girls can do!..

Indoor Grow Setup:

*400w ReVolt dimmable ballast
*400w Super Horti HPS bulb
*400w MH bulb
*Wing reflector
*24h outlet timer
*(6) 5 gallon buckets
*Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil
*Fox Farm Nutrients Trio Pack (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom)
*One fan in window of grow space
*Grow space is a large bedroom

Plants are being grown about two feet under a 400w MH for this month then on to the HPS as it will be time to flower (lights @ 18/6 for entire plant life). I will stay on a water only diet in FFOF for the first two weeks (until June 28th) then I will be starting the growth nutrients. Growth and flower nutrients will be served at 1/2 or 1/3 dosage. I'll be using growth nutes till about 1 week into flowering. Once ready to start flower nutes I'm going to flush growth nutes away and proceed with flowering nutrients until A week before harvest. Finally, two days prior to harvesting I plan to flush for the final time and leave in total darkness to extract more resin.

"Auto Seeds" are the makers of Trans Siberian. I haven't heard too much on them so I thought I'd check it out for myself.

I just ordered a digital ph tester, ph up & down, and just got my foxfarm trio of nutes (starting nutes in two weeks; give or take a few days). It is at 1 week and a day and I am now down to 4 Trans Siberian and 2 Afghan Kush Ryder. Upon sprouting to the soils surface, one of my trans siberian and my only northern lights blue stopped growing and began to turn to a somewhat blue hue as if it had died out..and that they did. I pulled the two after all had germed with no problems and am now at 6 total autos. I will be ordering more here soon so I am able to harvest more often! Pics will be posted tonight!

Ya I wanted to grow that strain out but the day it stretched through the soil it stopped growing, not sure if it's the FFOF or just the genetics. Water was PH'd and all else was good so i'm assuming it was just bad luck or not the best seed. Either way, Attitude is hookin me up fat for my next order.

Well FFOF is known for usually being too hot for seedlings, 6/8 isn't bad though and like you said could of just been bad luck.

Ya next time I plan to just use 1/2 portion of FFOF and another 1/2 of Happy Frog or something else not too hot. All others are good though! I expected to lose a couple as it happens to us all as you know, some more than others..

That'll probably work, I've seen more people cut it with Light Warrior though. I'm not really sure what's the difference between the three anyway.

Shit, that's what I meant haha. But ya, I have never really had to cut too much in my past but sometimes you gotta depending on your mix. Now, until I post more pics I want to get everyones opinion on topping, pruning, etc. I have read mixed posts that it helps and also that it stunts the growth and other negative side effects. I plan to let it grow out, being auto strains I tend to feel that all of that will turn out badly giving the life span and time spent in each veg and flower.

NEVER prune neither with autos or photos and don't top with autos, they dont have enough recovery time. If height is an issue just LST/SCROG.

I have been seeing more and more people DEFOLIATING <- I think that's right. And seem to be doing really well with it. I would definitely not top the Auto as Cloudz mentioned.

Your right, this is not the place for this old discussion. I just know what I have been seeing, and I have been seeing it more and more lately. Mostly with smaller plants in SOG will no ill effects. I am actually planning to Defoliate a plant or two on this upcoming grow, just to test it out for myself.
