MMJ In Maine...

Dax - Here's a heads up

I doubt a normal doctor will even consider it, but its worth a try. Even if he/she agree's I can almost guarantee they will tell you to schedulae an appointment with a MMJ clinic.

I recieved a phone call 2 weeks after my visit telling me that I had gotten my reccomendation. They said it would take up to 2 more weeks to get my tamper-proof copy, but they would be sending a temporary reccomendation through my e-mail. Minutes after I got off the phone, I had an email from the office, with a printable PDF with the doc's signature on it and shit.

They said to keep it with me until I got my tamper-proof in the mail. I still keep it with me all the time, and keep my tamper-proof secured in my house. If you get harrassed by law enforcement, and you only have the printable version, they can take your shit. You need to show them the actual tamper-proof copy for it to be valid. Although I have used my printable version twice, to avoid stupid cops whom think that they should waste their time trying to hagel me about marijuana.

I have about 490 sheets of RX watermarked paper. I have provided them to patients all printed out with the state approved form. All they have to do is let the doc fill in all the info....I got em off amazon...freaked out a couple of docs, they pay $500 for their paper I paid $35.....
This was a good idea, I found the form on the state website and ordered some tamper proof paper for, yeah $35 probably the same stuff lol. Thank you Saturday Delivery now I'll be properly prepared when I go in.

While I do realize the odds of him signing off on this are slim, I'd really like to at least bring it up to him first since he is my main doctor and has served me well otherwise, you never can tell.

I got it! :D

Went to my doctor, got checked out, gotta go back for Physical Therapy and had to have X-Rays done since he's worried about it being something more serious than just pulled muscles now. He went to prescribe me Hydrocodone again and I asked if I could talk to him about something off the record. He shoved all his paperwork aside and assured me this was just between us. I explained in detail what I had done and what was working for me, he had no problem with it at all, but was a bit uninformed about the laws. I presented him with my referral form on the tamper proof paper I got and printed from the DHHS website and explained how everything worked (he seemed to think you had to be a MMJ specialist to recommend it) and upon reading the qualifying conditions and reviewing it filled it out right away.

Now I'm legal! When I got up the courage to tell mom on the way home all she did was laugh and shake her head. Then she said I was an adult and if the doctor ok'd it that was that.

That's great, Daxus. Good to hear some docs coming around. Your mom's reaction is funny.
It was surprising I was terrified but my brain just went "Fuck it here we go" and I started talking. The guy is in his 70's too and I was expecting him to be really upset and throw a fit, instead the first thing he said was "I think that's perfectly fine, you'll probably have to support the black market though, unless you have a friend who grows in his closet". I almost shit brix.

I have yet to talk with a doc who didn't feel cannabis has medical uses. they just don't want to have anything to do with recommending use.

I'm glad mine recommended use! I medicated last night after dinner with my girlfriend on our anniversary. I just sat and watched her play DDR and I don't think I've ever been so relaxed even when I was on the muscle relaxers. Woke up feeling like a million bucks! Bad news is my doctor thinks I might have Ankylosing Spondylitis, but I won't find out till the x-rays come back.

Medical Mary Jane for the win, big time, big pharm can kiss my ass.

Congrats Daxus on getting approved with your PC Doc :-) Sorry to hear that you may have AS, bt stay positive until the x-ray results come back. You also have the last part correct when you stated that "Big Pharm can kiss your ass!" There is nothing in this world that would make me go back to some of the opiates that I was on during the past 6 years, one of which cost the insurance company 12K a month (Actiq/Fentynol)

Also, I have been away for sometime here at RIU, but welcome to the best site. I hope that everything works out for ya in the future. Best of Luck !! :-)

Daxus You say that you have back problems. I will say same thing My doctors said to me...Lose weight and work out. need a strong core and it will help with ur pain. I have more fucked disc in my back then good ones. I jog, and do try my best to work out a few days a week... Hard or fucked up as this might sound, sit ups really help.. Going to hurt like hell ,but after awhile the tables will turn

Thanks MaineYankee! I gotta ask, you ever work at the NPP, or is it just a name? :P

I hope everything works out too, should hear something back today, either way "opiates suck" is my new motto.

My doctor actually told me to gain 20lbs. I weigh 117 and can't gain anything, my grandfather was the same way, I can eat and eat and eat and nothing happens. In terms of working out that is something I do need to do more of, and I'm actually going on a jog with my gf tonight after work, maybe I'll try some sit ups too!

No, though he recently did several bloodwork tests regarding my thyroid because he had concerns, but everything came back better than fine.

LOL I was gonna come back with some snappy comeback about the rivalry, but couldn't come up with one. Neither team is anything to write home about yet this season

Was that a primary care doc? If so, i'd ask for a referral (if you need it for insurance purposes) to an endocrinologist. Unless you are 5'6" or less and have a very small frame you are significantly underweight.
