Hey guys what's up! Just thought I'd start a thread about plant spacing in sog. Thought it would be interesting to hear just how densley packed people have grown plants and what strains respond to what spacing. Personally the most packed I've had things is 4 per square foot. In both 6" pots and 6" rockwool blocks. But I've heard and seen people cramming more in than me with good results. I've seen ak47 sogs at 9 plants per square foot. Apparently this dude got 2gpw running it this way. I just finished reading a thread where the dude had 5" pots packed and was also gettting good results with a number of diff strains too. So come on guys join in and share some info on strain related planr spacing for sog!

Ensure they are all the same strain if possible, only takes 1 unnoticed hermi to ruin the game.

plants per sqaure foot isnt precise enough to accuratlety determine pot size i like to have at least 4-8in between tops i use 1gal bags 8in diameter, so every cola has about an inch between eachother if they are multi colas and this spread let light get to some of the lower leaves. 3gal bags would be a step up for a slightly bigger version of my SOG my plants only get about 2 1/2 ft tall in a 2x4x4 area under 2 400w so i could imagine doing a 4x4 with a 1000w in 3gal bags with 3 1/2 ft plants

It's hard to say, & it will take some trial & error, doubt you can utilize the best space 1st time around, may take a few grows finding the best strain.
I personally would rather grow 5 huge plants than 20 small ones, & ill yield the same.<3

hermies lol. same strain, super lol. these things depend on the grower and the genitics, i run all types of strain in my sog, and if you cant check every plant often enough to catch hermies you got probs

true but my turn around is faster and no veg time for me, maybe 4 weeks max veg time. 3 plants a weeks 3oz+ a week.

I figured your scrog was over 20 plants as many are.. @ that point, if using an untested & proven strain. It can cause havoc. Checking every plant in a scrog would be annoying.

SOG 21 plants exactly, 3 rows of 7, 7 weeks to flower, 3 plants a weeks, sometimes every 2 weeks, depending on what going on

dude it took me years to be able to tune in a grow to pump 3oz a week but i finally did now im trying to get more lol. 2g per watt here i come!
Personally all my clones come from the same set of moms that come from the same mom so everything is pretty uniform. When I said he had a few different strains I ddnt mean in the same system. He had a different system for each strain. And yeah hermies are the woooorst but if conditions are controlled correctly they shouldn't be a problem.
What is your style, system, strain? Dwc and aero are good for bumping it up to 2g cos of increased yield due to root oxygenation, but that's a whole new system to get dialed. I get 1.4 gpw on average. With me its not the gpw I'm bothered about its the gpsf (grams per square foot). Mainly because I can allways add more lights but can't increase the size of my room.
I hate gettin into these ones lol. If ever other variable is taken care of and experience level of grower is the same sog will allways yield more per year. Plus its all a grade dense nuggies.

I do around 4 plants a square/ft. 80-100 plants under 2x600watt air cooled hood.... Plants are grown in what I call a 'Super hempy trough'.... (21x2L) water bottles fit into a 42l underbed storage tub and I use 4 of them, with 'cut outs' in the lid for the bottles.
Im very excited about my system and just a couple of weeks away from being proud enough to journal this grow here. Im still dialling it in but expect to be producing about 16g per plant. (its taken me a year to gain the necessary knowledge/money/experience etc.)
Im also gonna double my system next month to 4x600watt. I'll do 4 or 5 runs them im out the game. 115oz per run.

soil/less basically an all organic hand made soil that suits my needs specifically, and a organic/sythetic nutrient sytem, Co2, and dual spectrum and uv. 4 mothers i can clone from and tons of seeds. i need more room but i dont have any in my house so im gonna wait till my roommate moves out and use part of that room for that. always high grade nug. sog is a nice system. but i like em all. my next move is to aero, but thats sytem im custom making and im gonna make it expensive so im waiting on that.
I like the sounds of this system. Instead of doing 4 trays I would personally stick with 2 and just add the 2 600s to the existing system. That's what I did I upgraded from 4 600s to 4 1000s and simply kept the same space, I did however upgrade the cooltubes fans from 2 8" axials blowing through 4 600s to 2 8" centrifugal fans blowing through 4 1000s, this allowed me to have the 1000s at the same height the 600s were which has made my colas super fat and dense which adds alllllllloooootta weight lol. I didn't double my yield per plant but added 10g to it. And I didn't have to fork out for 2 more flood systems. And tbh I didn't really have the space. I like what your saying about leavin the game. Its good to take breaks. Personally I grow for 8 month then leave it for 4. Take time off travel, see the world. What's the point in workin all year only being able to go anywhere for 2 days at a time. Lifes too short!

I use 2x 600w & as nice as 80-100 girls under them sounds. Is it nearly worth the risk? When they come, they count the Numbers, not the lights.Cannot knock it though, sounds badass.

1Ks would be good but Ive found my 600's work great.... Ive got minimal headroom under 160cm but loadsa space since im subterranean . I actually use Lumatek digi's so I use that 10%booster switch. ... The 42l trays are the perfect diminension for moving about, emptying runoff etc.

The logic I use to justifiy the risk in my mnd is this. ........ I can do 1plant, 200 times and since I flower mine as soon as they come from the cloner it takes 65days, times 200 = 13000 days or 35years.... or I can do it all at once and it takes 65 days.
Cannot knock it though, sounds badass.

All my 'product' is sold to my mate who adds his cut and distributes it. I only ever deal with one person.
