hollow stems??

I'm at the end of week 7 in flower and i noticed that one of my plants needed support because i thought the weight of the buds were bringing it down. After I secured it to a bamboo stake, one of the side bottom branches just bent over and broke off.

After looking closer at the piece broken off, i was amazed at how hollow it was...just like bamboo. There was no sign of pests inside or anything...the plant looks totally healthy.

what could this be?? why is this plant so hollow?

i always thought stems were supposed to be thick and hardy but this blue widow seems to be a weak little bitch :) oh well...you learn somethin' new every day

Soil...that's what trips me out. I've heard of hydro having hollow stems. My plant has denser stems near the bottom but becomes more hollow at the top....a little wierded out by it.

are you using blue widow strain from dinafem seed company? i am just wondering i had just started one it was a freebie so im curious if that will happen to me aswell, ill keep an eye on it and watch out.. hey if it is how did it grow for you can you give me an idea on what to expect size, how much you think itll yield fro your plant guess of course im curious i got a ways to go week into veg stage. so again any idea on what to expect from this seed. thanks

Yup, mine is from the freebie seed too. i like this plant...here are some pics...i topped her @ 15" and she stretched to about 43"! very sugary looking buds...it didn't pack alot of weight but my grow is organic so it's not going to come out all nuked up but it looks very decent and i love her smell.

them pictures look real nice man, i too will also be going organic so this is a good idea on what to expect from the seed/strain mine is currently about a week old and is growing with 4 other attitude seed freebies from my order. heres a pic of it. how early did you feed it?? if anything ill be using mexican bat guano during veg and i think its jamaican guano when its time for the flowering and idk if itll need it but ill flush the soild a week or two before i harvest like i said i dont know if its needed, but nothings better than organic bud im not a fan of chemically grown bud. haha i hope using guano is considered organic.

yeah guanos are organic...i'm using supersoil so i let it grow in some base soil in a 1gal pot and then transplanted it into a 7 gal of supersoil. I started to give it vermiTeas with Kelp, Humic Acid, once a week after I transplanted it into the 7 gal. When I flipped it I gave it some extra blooming guano every 2 weeks and stopped @ week 6...Now its just water w/molasses...good luck with yours!

i only have about 5 ft of clearence im using a tent, 4x4x6.5 but with using mh/hps i got to keep in mind not getting the tops to close to the lights so 5ft is max height i can allow my plants but im using 3gal containers so i doubt ill hit that height anyways, i guess one way i could go wrong with it being all organic by using this sample of bushdocter micro brew plant food activator, but i would only use that 2 times 3the most so even with that and using the rest organic i doubt itll affect the buds taste if i stop using it before flowering and give my plants a nice flush towards the end of grow or what your doing just use water strting around the 8wk! thanks ill start a grow journal at some point. you gonna keep it flowering for a couple more weeks? im not sure the reccomended time but im gonna shoot for 10weeks flower and 5/maybe 6wks veg.

It is in my experience that all mj plants start out hollow for the first few months of their lives. Clones from a cloned mother taken from a seed plant will not be hollow.

i'll probably take a harvest in two weeks at the least...i'll probably do two harvests; one for the tops and another for all that undergrowth to finish budding. Today is day one of week 8...strangely though; none of my leaves have started to yellow yet so that tells me that it hasn't even started to use its reserves yet. I think it may bulk up a bit more.

Well I have grown hydro and soil and haven't had hollow stems yet...in either, but I wouldn't think it is a problem, and no body else seems to think so...so...I have to go along and say I guess it doesn't hurt anything...Then again I don't know if I have ever checked my stems for hollow-ness...lol.

I have one strain that the leaves don't seem to yellow, and if you are growing organically there is not really any need to stop feeding towards harvest, I mean the plant's need less the closer they get, but no need to flush really...nor does flushing really even work with organics...

i've a question.... my daughter got ahold of some sheers and topped my plant thus revealing a hollow stem. will it survive?
