Thoughts on Odor Control Alternatives?

Hi All,
I am currently running a grow tent that is 3'x2'x5.5' in size - intake is 6 inch fan - I bought a 4 inch extractor fan with a 5 inch carbon filter (yes I didn't realise until i got home) I tried getting a 4-5inch convertor duct but it only fits one end properly. Long story short being short being low on real-estate space & being worried about stability of hanging it in the tent (don't want it dropping down and smashing the plants or worse) with duct tape holding it together I am looking for another solution to extract air and filter it - does anyone have any ideas on another way I can extract and control odour without a carbon filter. If I just install a normal fan to extract is there anything I can put in front of the fan to reduce odour before it leaves tent???

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

thanks guys

I HAD pics on my thread- I use bungee cords screw hooks to support the weight- deadens vibration noise as well... I am going to my pad tonight- I'll see if I remember to take another pic of it and I'll show you what I mean..

intake should be passive. a fan will suck in dust, mold spores, bugs.........as far as the odor control, return filter and get 4" filter.........or 5" fan

Thanks mate really appreciated! Main issue is I am worried about the fan coming away from the filter I have put alot of duct tape around it but still concerned

you'd be surprised at just how strong that shit is, duct tape that is.. they attach it to the front of nascar cars after getting into a lil fender bender and it holds up to speeds of over 200 mph pretty good, i'd think you should be ok..

i also use that silver tape, i forget the correct name of it, but it's made for ducting and the like, and also holds up pretty good imo..

you could always get some ona gel, ona stands for odor neutralizing agent i think, and it works ok, but it's no replacement for a good carbon filter imo...

Thanks racer appreciate feedback, how do you actually use the gel? Where is it placed etc?

The best thing that I did to reduce odor is make sure the genetics are right...Northern lights..Sensi Silver Haze, NL X Haze. and not to mention breeders that have used Sensi stock for their breeding such as Sannies, Sweet, and Pyrimid. I had several different plants and a lot of odor, so I used large plastic containers to cover up each strain except for the strain I suspected. Turns out by killing my DNA Lemon Skunk I eliminated 80% percent of the odor even though it was the the weakest strain.
...dont get the Nirvana NL:spew:

I'm gonna try something completely off the wall for odor control. I noticed that a respirator completely eliminates the skunkiest of cannabis odors, So I'm going to attach a round organic respirator cartridge to one end of a piece of duct with the exhaust fan at the opposite end and suck the smelly air right through the cartridge and out the other end. I have no idea if it will work, but I'm going to give it a shot. Anyone else try anything like this?
