so excited, just put the seeds into my seedling mix last night and over half are already popping through the soil/perlite! Same as last time, the bubble gum, or bubbleicious dep on who u get them from, pop so fast!
The ice seeds are muchh slower (only 2/5 germed from nirvana)
Today after looking the girls over, I decided I made a mistake on tagging, and 5 of the 7 are bubble gum, the ice even though they aren't as healthy, have longer, more narrow leafs, I guess I will find out for sure when they are bigger, but think I wasn't as careful labeling as I should have been.
So with so many already peeking thru the seedling mix, I bet they definitely catch up with the 5 best I have going now..that will be gr8, because I don't want to veg and flower at the same time...not really set up for it, though a sheet of panda film I have left could cure that quick enough, it would make on part of the room have no access to fresh air from the open window, so I don't think it's a good idea.
I have one of those bags that release co2..guess when all these plants are filling that room I will probably need a few more..
Question...does co2 even help your plants if you have 2 fans circulating the air in the room? Seems like it would just blow it off and dissipate. I know it is heavier than air and to put them above the canopy, just seems the fans would prevent them from getting any substantial effects from it, and probably being in a room with an open door isn't even keeping it on the plants.
I made one of those stick on zipper doors in my panda film I used to separate the room, but the zipper came off first time I used it...may need to get some stick on velcro.
I didn't get to have Christmas dinner cause I blew a head gasket, so I am baking a turkey today...Happy Holidays everyone, and Happy growing!!!

wish I could make one of those time lapse videos, that would be kewl..guess I could snap like a pic every few hours over days then turn it into a video...so much technology, so little time to learn how to use it all!!

without Co2 plants will die, what your trying to do is increase the concentration to help them breathe better. the higher the concentration the more the energy/food the plant can make thus making them grow faster and healthier.

Have you heard of green planet nutes?
I read they give a 20% discount to mmj patients, if true, they have a 1 part product supposed to work from seedling to bud..that would be great if it supplies everything they need, but the numbers looked a little low to me...only 4-3-3...doesnt the P have to be real high in flower (I think open sesame by foxfarms is like 45!!!)then again you only use it I think 2x before flipping to 12/12.

just set the camera up in the same spot every time and take your pic every 2 hours, then just put them in order and run them at like 12 frames a second (im sure with some searching you can find a program that will do this)

im not sure about the nutes and numbers, i think the lower the number the more you end up mixing in you solution. so a 4-3-3 would be the same as a 8-6-6 or a 12-9-9, 16-12-12 just have to add less of the higher number. but like i said i dont know too much about them so may want to get a second opinion. im probally wrong here cuz i feel like i am wrong LOL

OH no...My son in law just saw my plants, and I was getting ready to post a few pics of the girls and new babies...he said the orange'ish spots are "rust" (like a mold of some sort?) and that I need to cut it off, that it is airborne and will spread, he said I probably got it because I have my seedlings next to my 3 wk old plants?
Sounded a bit extreme, so thought I would get more opinions on the matter before anything is done.
Now mind you, yesterday I repotted the 2 smaller 3 wk olds into the 2 quart sized pots, and noticed the one smallest had almost brown ish roots and not many more than when I planted it, it hasn't really grown much at all either.....all the others are getting ready to go into their final homes (either 3 or 5 gal pots) they are showing roots at the bottom at all the holes(and are big thick healthy and white!)!
Ok here are pics of the 2 I noticed have this rust colored areas on the new growth margins..and a couple of the tiniest new leafs shriveled up and were dry/dead..
Please, any ideas what this may be?
Of note I DID give them their first watering of the past 4 days last night, and the new growth was lighter green so I did add like only 200 ppm nutes (wasn't going to feed for a couple weeks due to amendments in soil..or until they showed signs of needing more, which they did)these areras of this orange colored stuff were def smaller last night when I fed them...any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance!
This damn thing isn't letting me upload pics right now, it freezes on the last pic, arghhh.

never mind, that was strange, it acted like it was frozen...but here are the pics...please, I don't think it looks like nute burn and it's on just the new growth on bubble 3 and bubble 4 has it on new leaf ends and the one leaf below it on the margins...looks like something I haven't seen in pics anywhere...
please help...!

pic 7 shows how whatever it is, is spreading down to the fan leafs....anyone?
Pic 1 is of one of the ice 3 wk olds that was stunted after removing all the rockwool I could..it was even behind back when it was in the hydro setup..if it has root rot could it have spread sinse it was in a recirculating system?

not sure what it is but i do think your looking too deep into it, stop giving your plants so much crap and just let them grow :) if the brown spots get worse over next couple days we will take action to find out what it is but it could be any number of things and treating "possibilities" will just lead you into more issues.

well I wasn't THAT worried until my son in law said "it's rust, man, you have to cut those leafs off or it'll spread, my buddies plants just got this "rust""..is that even a known name for a fungi or some sort of disease...still googel'ing..

tap water has Iron in it wich will cause a orange tint to perilite, and iron Rusts. thats about all i know. to be honest your plants look great. my plants are yellowing and have all kinds of spots and shit on them. im not saying i shouldnt be concerned but im not, im going to go pick up some llime and fix a PH issue i have and should be all set.

as long as soil PH is at a good level your plants will flourish, i really mean no disrespect but i think your just adding way too much crap to them.. leave em alone untill you start to see the leaves turning a little light green then get them veg nutes (but not too much) into them. they shouldnt need anything for at least a month.

as far as root rot goes, its not a soil issue so you shouldnt even worry about that.

iron...this foliar stuff I have, called spray and grow has iron and zinc, may that have caused the rust colored pots..think ya got at it...again, thanks...I haven't been adding a lot of stuff, just gave them a bit of food cause the new growth was getting light green, a few of the tiny lefs on new growth turned that orange'ish color then shriveled up and died, but just a couple...I should probably stick to just giving them reg h20 showers.

dam that sucks, i wouldnt use that stuff again. also i dont know why you are flushing soil that much?

soil itself is a buffer. 7.0 is a decent soil PH dont worry about bringing it up or down. make sure your soil has a good amount of perilite in it for drainage.

i couldnt tell you if the rockwool is ok to plant, but to be safe just dont plant it or at least all of it.

i would just take the plants as carefully as you can and pull them out of the buckets, fill your soil buckets up about 1/2 way and plop em in there and carefully add the rest of your dirt.then give them a good watering to settle all the soil and add more if needed.

you really may want to get a second opinion on transfering from hydro to soil as i have no experience with this and do not want to give advice that could hurt your plants. best of luck and let me know how you make out :)

Matt
I switched from hydro to soil for my current grow...well I switched kinda mid grow...hard to explain...but long story short... I have a net pot full of hydroton planted in a pot of soil...

you will see more spots caused by overzealous adding then you will see from deficiencies...

For real...none of the spots you have pictured are deficiencies...they are all signs of too much nutes...for real I kill plants that way all the time...just because they make a product doesn't mean you have to use it...lol, just water them and then stop...when you say the new growth is light green---you will not fix that with more nutes---you will make it worse...your nitrogen is too high, which is why some leaves are crispy and the tops are light green...the tops are suffering from a MN deficiency due to too much nitrogen...so you are loving them to death...I have done it a million times...so I know all the signs...but I bet you just about anything that if you give them nothing but water for the next 2 weeks they will look bedtter than they ever have.

so you see signs the N level is too high..that is what the orange-rust spots are?
Ok, thanks a lot for your input...the reason I do foliar spray h2o is it is verrry dusty (live on a dirt road/dirt driveway..etc.) and if I didn't, they'd be layered in dust crap in 2 days, and I always thought it was ghood to mist them w/ water..I had a thing of that superthrive, but was almost out, so I added the last of it to the thrive alive, and use only like 1-2 drops per litre of water.
And I usually only spray with that once a day, then 2x w/ reg Ph'd h2o.
The 5 bubblegums are ready (maybe..) to be in bigger pots, should I let them get more roots coming out of the bottom(as it stands, they have pretty white roots sticking out of all the pot bottom holee), they have copious amount of roots for 3 week olds..In fact, they have double the roots of a romulan grapefruit I had cloned like 6 weeks ago (and it is still pretty small).this gives me hope..
As I said, my son in law saw the rust colored spots and said "man u have to cut that shit off, it'll spread, he said a friend of his was fighting this "rust" though I do not see that listed anywhere as a disease, lol.
Just wanting opinions, that's all..after losing my 1st crop I am a bit hyper vigilant, perhaps...but I want these suckers to grow and make it.
I noticed one thing tonight, these 5 girls are smelly lil wenches, lol..my plants I had before were a good 12-16" and didn't put off any smell..these are def letting their terpines drift...and what a beautiful scent!
So even though they aren't as big as many 3 wk olds..I guess overall they are doing ok.I am only watering now...I gave them 200 ppm nutes once, and then this orange shit happened, so too much N makes you low on MN
I think I am even seeing the lil hairs showing they are female at the leaf junctions( I know that isn't it's botanical name lol) These were feminized seeds, which after buying, I have heard some bad things about..
One thing is guaranteed in growing weed, everyone has differing opinions, that is why i love RIU forums!
I am here to learn, and to make it to harvest, lol.
Also a great place to ease your mind if it's nothing, don't worry about it..
Thanks and happy growing..
