Between 2 lights

In the process of configuring a small closet LED grow. (1-2 plants) I chose LED for heat and power reasons. I've narrowed it down to 2 options. Basically spending about 200 either way but was wondering if anyone had exerience with either. Shying away from the 240 just because its on ebay, but that extra power would be quite nice. Let me know some opinions.

I don't know how well any of those will perform but if you are willing to spend anywhere from $300 and up then your options get a lot better and I know you can get some good lights. What's the absolute maximum you want to spend and how much are you looking to yield off the one or two plant closet grow? The simple way I look at it is: will the cost of the light be paid for in the savings from not having to purchase your meds then it's a worthwhile purchase?

I may consider the 180 watt one on gotham at that price if it is quality. The cheapers ons above do have 3w chipsets and so does the gotham ones so I am not sure as of right now. The extra 60watts from the 240 at the same price could be quite beneficial.

Power costs dont really concern me I'm just not trying to set off any red flags. Trying to be able to harvest a couple zips every 3-4 months. I have a large collection of good bagseeds along with some from attitttude. One jock horror and one NY47(Ak47 x Sour Diesel) I plan on giving the LEDs one-two runs with bagseeds then going with the good genetics and try to clone the ny47 and bring a few outside for the summer.

I'm not sure where it says that the 240 watt one on ebay says it utilizeds 2 45w sources so not sure if that means it is only 90watts? I am leaning towards the one on htg supply for quality and price.

Actually thinking about a small grow tent (only about 130 bucks) and it would make life a lot easier. Not to mention I could have my closet back!

Keep in mind that the Blackstar 240 really only uses 140w, so you're not really getting 60w more. If you're looking for a "quality" panel, i'd really consider purchasing the PG180 from HH over the Blackstar units. I've read countless times that the build quality on Blackstars are really lacking. Besides, as beef already mentioned, you get a 3 year warranty with the PG units. Also, try to stay away from those units coming from Hong Kong. Spend a few dollars more and get a good unit - do it right from the start.

And there is a 400 set up for basically the same price. Can someone give me a ball park figure on how much 150w vs 250w vs 400w on my power bill?

I would honestly try these out. The specs on it are better then most out there. They are only $150. Its a 120W led. But it uses 112 bulb 2w chips. So it seems like more watts or they are super lowering the output of each chip. I would try them myself, but Im looking to get a bunch of pro grows led. I want a lot of leds that are proven to work. Saving up for it.

Well my 600w hps 12/12 would run me about 60-80 dollars more. My 400w mh put down to 360w ran 24 hours everyday went about 40-50

2 watt LED's have significantly less penetration than 3 watt LED's...

Beef is right on the money. I've grown with no name chinese crap before it doesn't have a brand name for a reason folks. Most of the stuff on ebay is crap, and HTG is just rebranding chinese lights and selling them. Look for companies that just sell LEDS. In addition to using no name brands I've also grown with Hydro Hut, GLH and Blackstars. I would rank them in that order. You'll get the most bang for your buck with HH, both GLH and HH have 3 year warranties based in the usa GLH are just more expensive. I consider blackstar/gotham/lighthouse/growboys whatever you want to call them to be the Walmart of LEDS. As with most things in life you get what you pay for.

I have 500$ish for a small closet grow or i may just buy a tent. The 400w setup on htg with tent and everything looks tempting. HH has a 90w version would that be suitable for 2 plants as I don't really have enough for the 180.

zips16, if you're going to go cheap on any aspect of your set-up, go cheap on the tent, not the light.
The Pro-Grow 180 is $300, that leaves you $200 for a tent and fan.
Pick up a 2x2 tent on ebay for cheap (under $100) and a 4" inline fan (also under $100).
That should leave you around $30 for any extras you may need.
I hope that helps, good luck.

Yeah thats what I was planning on if I went led. I'm going to check eBay when I'm ready for purchase. The only thing that's tempting about that 400w HPS package is it'd basically be a one stop shop and I could run 3-4 plants no problem and from the above posts if I ran 18/6 then 12/12 it wouldn't kill my power bill maybe another 30-40$

After a bunch of reading I decided if I'm dropping the cash I'm going for a superb light because soil/nutess etc are easily replaceable but the light is what I need to focus on is the light.
