Hey guys,

This is going to be my second attempt to grow. My first attempt the seeds were "unusable" I should really contact the place I bought them and ask for new ones. Now I am starting to grow again in my new Stealth box. I'm using a "printer paper" box (example http://online-art-school.com/images_products/printer_paper_by_b3424.jpg ). I chose this as opposed to a regular shipping box cause I've found them much more strong then shipping boxes. The seeds I'm using are Mendocino Madness from TH Seeds regular (hopefully male cause I want to collect the pollen and possibly make some seeds with my northern lights) and Nirvana Northern Lights Feminized. Trying to make my own super breed marijuana lol. I bought some ultra silent I think their 18dba 1500rpm 120mm fans to cool my lights. I left both of them at the top cause its more efficent cooling the grow lights plus if the intake is at the bottom temperatures go from 23-24 degrees to 30-50 degrees which is way too hot. Also I created light traps for the fans in the which is coated on the inside with some sort of black material that absorbs a lot of light, very little light comes out of the bottom now. I will be lining the box with "emergency blankets" when I stop off at Canadian Tire or Walmart hopefully in a week or two, I'm sure as hell my plants will survive. Its been day 3 since I started germination of my Nirvana Northern Lights (on the left), I let the tap root grow about 1-1.5cm and placed it in the soil and covered the top will a little bit of soil, hopefully it will sprout by tomorrow night. I started germination on my Mendocino Madness on Sunday and I already see the sprout its coming out so I moved it from my drawer to a light proof box to increase the temps from 20 degrees to 23 degrees hopefully will allow the seed to grow faster ( when I checked the seeds after 3 hours of moving the tap root moves from a very small maybe 2mm to almost 1cm ) so by 10 hours from now I might be able to plant it if not ill wait till the morning tomorrow. The soil is Scotts Premium Potting Mix its the only soil I could find, i'm going to assume its not going to nute burn my plants hopefully ( http://www.homedepot.ca/product/scotts-premium-potting-mix-283-litre/917495 ). I will be adding another bulb just right now I left two 6500k 26watt bulbs just to give the plants a little bit of lighting. I'm going to be using 3x26watt bulbs (2700k for flower and 6500k for veg), its really difficult to find 42watt bulbs where I live :S hopefully I can find one or two. The box dimensions are 1'x0'10"x1'6"

I will probably transplant my northern lights into a bigger pot, the Mendocino madness will probably be in the party cup as im not giving it as much attention as my northern lights. If anyone has any questions or suggestions feel free? Also did I plant the seed right I made a little hole put the about 1.5cm tap room in left the top of the seed showing and put a little soil ontop ?

Thanks :)

I am not sure you will go to the end in party cup. Please don't do this to MJ plant. All of them deserve bigger pot.

Cardboard box? You do realize you are putting your house at an extreme risk of burning down, correct?
And like maariic said, you shouldn't use such a small pot, the plants need room to grow or they won't reach their full potential.
You might want to make something else that's a little more, wooden and bigger? Just don't want you to burn your house down, or have your plants die, that'd just be a waste now wouldn't it?

I have a bigger pot for my Nirvana northern lights (y) Just need to clean it. Burning point of cardboard is 451 degrees. I don't have any electrical that will cause a fire. I've tested this box for 2 weeks straight with lights on 247 I had no problems no overheating. Alot of people do cardboard box builds. If I can in the future I will build a box out of plywood or something

I think my nirvana should be fully sprouted in a few hours or so. My mendocino madness I give it 24-36 hours. My Mendocino madness tap root was more than an inch long so just left the tip of the seed showing since it will sprout soon.

Day 5 9am:

Does it look like my seedlings are growing slow? I put them close to the cfl the nirvana northern lights about 3.5 inches away and the mendocino madness 2.5inches away

the leaves are finally popping out. I have a feeling that the mendocino madness is a male. I hope it is so I can make some seeds :-D

I measured the temp 3 inches down and it was at 24-25degrees is that fine?
should be fine but seedlings dont need alot of light, so to be on the safe side i would keep it atleast 5" from the lights..

My first grow was in cardboard Banana Boxes from the grocery store. Almost completed it, but had a Spider mite problem. I never had any temp problems and I all sorts of cordage everywhere. Cardboard works just fine. Keep it up. Rep.

That usually falls off on its own, the leaves will eject it as the grow. Sometimes removing it prematurely will make a freaky leaf grow. Happened to me once or twice.

To be safe ill leave my mendocino 5" away but my northern lights stretched a good 2-3" so ill leave it a little closer

Update Day 5 7pm:

I'm bored so I took some pics

Northern lights stretched :( I'm leaving it 247 on to compensate for the stretching.

Mendocino madness coming out nice hopefully male so I can breed it to make seeds for my guerilla growing this summer (y) it looks really fuzzy compared to my northern lights

dont listen to the light further comments, get it one inch away and keep it there just make sure they dont touch. I always use cfls and closer the better. My best crop ever had 6 nodes in less than2 inches. Even 2 plants that ended up being males were super squatty. Repot them in a week or they will start to stretch from the roots being cramped. When they get a little bigger I'd put in a screen about half way up and let then grow into that until flower, to keep them down and fill up the box with buds as much as possible. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
