Cops using electric bill to bust you

So its proven that they will check your electricity bill for proof. But what I am curious is, if this alone can warrant a warrant. I can't see how police can go to a judge and be like "Hey sup, this dudes electricity bill shows for 12 hours a day he got some shit going on, prob weed, can we go get his ass?" and judge being like "LETS DO THIS THANG". I am assuming if they are checking your electrcity bill, its just for more evidence in the case against you, and that you were already busted for this. I also have heard about electric companies reporting "suspicious" amounts of increase to police and want to know if this is true. ALSO I found out that public companies records are all public, in which case they dont even need a warrant to check your bill and usage information.

IMO it's only suspicious if your running multiple high wattage lamps such as 1000w hid but if ur just running a couple 400s like me it's out of the radar. my flat screen uses 1000w and it's probly on more than 12 hrs a day

What?

The message I entered is too short.

Most of the time they need a warrant to monitor your electric bill. By the time they are checking your bill you have already fucked up.

I run my heater 12/12... So does my grandmother - I hope they don't bust her.

having power running for 12 hours doesnt necessarily mean you are growing. they would need further evidence that you are growing to get the warrant, i think. it just tells them you use a lot of power for 12 hours a day, but not how that power is used. hypothetically, if a customer gets caught and says he bought off you, then that along with the records would tell them you are probably growing as well as selling, and give them the warrant. this is just what i think, im no lawyer

Trash, trash, trash. If you're hoovering the power (10,000+ Watts) the key is to establish this usage as soon as you move in. Then the program shows normal usage. I can't count how many people put 30 empty bags of soil out for collection...(Facepalm) No warrant needed for trash.

Exactly. Unless you're running a crazy amount of power there is nothing to worry about just pay your bill in a timely manner. And BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT GOES INTO THE TRASH. Once it hits the curb its public property and anybody can go through it for whatever reason they want.

Yeah I actually have a separate trash can for my grow room and I either wrap it up, and carry it out myself when trash gets there or burns it. I live out in the country kindish in Texas so burning stuff doesnt raise eyebrows or anything. Logic would suggest what the guy earlier said, if you get snitched out or if they get an anonymous call that you're growing, I imagine with the tip and the the electricity bill they could come knock on your door. Was at a bar couple weeks back and there was a DEA agent in there talking about how they did some huge bust and what lead to it was he had some book called "How to grow Marijuana" and he had left it out on a table when his land lord came or some shit. Crazy the kind of some insiginificant things that can lead to you getting busted

It's as easy as someone telling the IRS that you're growing and not paying taxes.

Edit: I'm going to call it the Capon Method.

I take all my marijuana growing trash to a local taco bell dumpster... I dont risk getting my trash gone through. oh and anything with name or info gets SHREDDED.

You can never be too careful!
