mob 43 days.jpgM.o.B. at 43 days.
organic soil compost and AACT's fed, being cut at 47 days. I'll dry for a few days/week and then jar cure for a few weeks.

HPS light kills the colors, i'll get some good pix when I harvest.

I know nothing about cameras but my google-fu is strong and i found some good links about shooting under HPS. If you can control the shutter speed on the camera set it very high (up to 1/1000th) and force a flash. My DLSR (a Canon XTi) limits me to 1/200th or slower (with an f-stop of 8.0) when using a flash but i get fairly good results. Photoshop or something similar that lets you set a white point and adjust saturation can help a bunch.

Oh, yeah... here's some pics of a M.o.B. that was cut earlier this week. Day 53 90% cloudy/9% clear with a scattering of amber, just about where i like indicas. I think too much amber tends to result in couchlock in indicas. This is my first run of this girl and i'm glad i took a cut. Nice bud structure - the calyxs are dense and swell nicely. The calyx to leaf ratio is very high leading to easy trimming. I'm really quite impressed with this strain and look forward to working with it in my fledgling breeding program.

never did say how much that those pics look like my mob. sometimes i wonder if it was really just one mother that spawned off all the state wide clones.. mine came from clone and I don't know anyone that didn't get them from clone.

Cerb: That looks pretty much like my MoB. My understanding is that it is a clone only strain. I'm working on finding out more about it's genetics.

yeah, I have heard stories, one sounds right (if not a little dramatic) but ultimaley I believe its an afganica genetics, a pure afgan kush for hash production. but most everything is of course hear say

Great thread fellas. I'm curious like all.

I'm from RI and last year (on 4/20 coincidently) a person stopped by a buddy's house and mentioned the M.O.B.'s. This is the first I've heard of that strain since. I think... think, I took a puff or two of it. To my recall it was early tasting and hit like a beast.

Curious if it's clone only how it was down here. :) How long has this been being passed for?

mob has been in maine since the 90's (as the story goes, it came back with a soldier from afgan, during the 80's when we were their friends..) and I know it made the jump to commercial hogs a couple years back (since i'd see it on the street with non-patients) but it was created by a patient (ME was made legal in 99).
If it hits like a beast it doesnt sound right, mob should smell like a grape jam and smoke equally sweet, it does expand quiet a bit, but it doesnt induce cuoghing, more of an oily flem in your sinuses..
it will cure either with red red hair and/or purple glands.

unfortunatly the black market guys have hored mob out pretty hard.. I'm not surprised its in R.I. or boston or anywhere else in between..

watch it though, there are a lot of ugly ugly versions out there too..

Afternoon Cerberus,

Thanks for the info on the MOB! My description could be skewed... maybe. I personally remember taking one puff from that, and I was not the one of handled it or broke it up. I personally don't like to socially medicate - but occassionally if something peaks my curiousity I will try it out, or if I know most of the people I will have a go (as to not look like a jerk). I definently do recall earth tones like I said, and it being "deep". Whatever it was definently had that "afghany (kushy?)" taste - but as do a lot of strains.

As I said, this was last year (on 4/20 as mentioned). I stopped by a friends to chat and soon after folks were pooling in to all have a big game of cards and do whatever they do. One guy stopped by though to show off his latest. He was kind of a wierd dude and didn't talk much - he kept saying over and over though about how much mollasses tea he fed it. After I had that puff I went in the other room and chatted with one of the guys I knew and he mentioned "did you try 'so and so's' MOB?". And then a couple of the other people started chatting about how that "stuff" had knocked them out the day before. Personally, I'd never heard of it. I've only recently become a patient so up until a few months ago my knowledge was limited to the commercial strains mostly.

I think there could be a 50/50 chance that what I tried is what you speak of. The circle of people I was with are most ignorant to medicating for a reason, the legality, everything. That person seemed semi-intelligent though. Whatever he brought, it was good med's... and he had to be legal. He showed up with a small labeled jar with maybe an eight in it. I'm not sure about you folks but I just do the jar thing now. I'd rather it be more obvious (if) I am transporting something, but be in a weighed and labeled legit jar - then all sketchy rolled up in a bag somewhere.

mob is for sure a kush. Its a narcotic type high, very couch lock and great! for pain relief.

Tet, just sitting down to that now, cheers! :)

Well if anyone ever journeys to RI and would like to bring a cut, I'd love to make the connection and have the REAL mob in the closet. As a new patient I'd like to get my paws on a few of the New England strains that I would occassionally get in years past.

maybe someday all of us with diffeent mob cuts (that were not gotten from each other of course) and trade off, see if there is any difference in them. A mob swap as it where, clones and a nug. just an idea..

I have been geeking on MOB for a few years now, i'd like to know as much history and variety about her as I can..

great work drift

I know that eventually (Currently I have my hands full), I would def like to try that strain. I really appreciate all of the info that all of you have shared on this strain, and I have written down in my notebook, the different feedback that all of you have so graciously shared with all of us. A tip of my Yankee Cap to all of you that have grown this wonderful strain called MOB :-)

Happy Holiday Trails !!

I'm not sure what you mean but 'not gotten from eachother'?

As we were discussing in the "M.O.B. Male" thread, this strain - resulting from a single cutting, cannot possibly be genetically different in any way shape or form. Everyone who owns it will have the exact same strain regardless of from who, where or when it was obtained. That's just how it works.

There are 2 exceptions though. The most obvious is number 1, plant A and plant B aren't identical... one is M.O.B and one is not. (For whatever reason. You were lied to, mislabeled, etc.) Number 2, somewhere along the line somebodys M.O.B. mutated (genetically). That plant was used as a mother, intentional or not and the genetically mutated plants were distributed. Therefore plant A would be M.O.B. and plant B would also be M.O.B., however it would have genetic abnormalities (not necessilarily bad) compared to plant A.

I'm sorry but it's just how it works. I worked for a long time with animals who could reproduce sexually and asexually, and in addition to the visual and hands on work I read a lot of published data on the subject. If only DNA testing would be incorporated into MJ as it has general biology, maybe people would understand more.

This isn't to say different growing techniques wouldn't yield better, bigger, tastier, plants. All the more reason to hang out!
