Red card expired

My red card expired before I've received the new one( applied a week or so back), I took the certified mail receipt and ALL my docs from the renewal but still this place turned me away, the state is dropping the ball.It took months to get my first card , had I known I would be turned away I would have done my renewal a lot sooner than 2 weeks out. Be warned. In place I mean a dispensary. this slightly irritated me since I just dropped 170 bux for renewal.

Sounds like a dispensary I would trust. They're minding their P's and Q's. I'd rather give my money to a business that is abiding the law than one that's a bit sketchy. Who knows what else they're up to. ;)

any new patient could walk in there with the certified mail receipt and make a purchase.I had ALL my paperwork . But I do understand what you're saying and the dude made it a point to go out of this way to assure me it wasn't his fault, my kid was with me and the dude suggested I just have him pick up what I wanted (and thats what I did in the end) but I'm the kind of person that likes to shop man, I like to look and smell, smoking isn't necessary if they have a nice glass or scope. but I do like to look.

"Under Colorado's MMJ laws, patients aren't supposed to buy pot until 35 days after they've submitted their paperwork, because that's how long the state has to reject/return applications" - westword article quote about issue

Because the laws have tightened they actually follow this rule instead of relying on affirmative defense. 170 for a renewal is very steep though, no compassion there. Also my renewal took 3 weeks. i do it asap and the rule is you must wait until your card expires within 60 days to send in for renewal again. I had two cards for over a month and never lost status as a patient. I would suggest this route next time if you can.

The 170 was both doctor fee and state fee.

i got you dog my caregiver status and having a disp specific tax id number allows for me to accept JUST a doctors NOTE the red card is to track YOU..... it is a request to disp to not take just new paperwork. so we are not liable for selling you meds if the STATE deems it UNessacary!!!???
some in mountain town accept just paperwork some just red cards.... noone checks ... i take a photocopy if you buy an oz or more just a name otherwise... the irs seems to think my money is just fine... but the word in cali is go undergroud DEEP

my first card took months to get in the mail, I'd just recently read that they had caught up and things were running smoothly BUT in the months of sept-oct there were like thousands of cards due to expire and mine was one, if I had it to do again I'd have given my renewal 4 weeks just to be safe. I'm assuming I'll have my new card early this week.Cali doesn't like being regulated, they had their chance but wtf, maybe underground is better for the grower, drive prices back up to highway robbery levels.

It's not the dispensary's fault, it's the state law passed in 2011 that mandates this. It specifically states that for renewals, you must have the actual red card, not proof of mailing and application.

The part of HB11-1043 that mandates this is in BLUE below:

(5) Prior to initiating a sale, the employee of the medical marijuana
center making the sale shall verify that the purchaser has a valid registration
card issued pursuant to section 25-1.5-106, C.R.S., OR A COPY OF A
CURRENT AND COMPLETE NEW APPLICATION FOR THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA
REGISTRY ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND
ENVIRONMENT THAT IS DOCUMENTED BY A CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT
AS HAVING BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND
ENVIRONMENT WITHIN THE PRECEDING THIRTY-FIVE DAYS, and a valid
picture identification card that matches the name on the registration card.
A PURCHASER MAY NOT PROVIDE A COPY OF A RENEWAL APPLICATION IN
ORDER TO MAKE A PURCHASE AT A MEDICAL MARIJUANA CENTER
.
A PURCHASER MAY ONLY MAKE A PURCHASE USING A COPY OF HIS OR HER
APPLICATION FROM 8 A.M. TO 5 P.M., MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. IF THE
PURCHASER PRESENTS A COPY OF HIS OR HER APPLICATION AT THE TIME OF
PURCHASE, THE EMPLOYEE MUST CONTACT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE PURCHASER'S
APPLICATION HAS BEEN DENIED.
