Yer just that you'll get to notice what a good ripe bud looks like, if it is 8 weeks from start of flowering not 12/12 as takes time to start flowering then i'd say give it a week or two more. Manufacturers flowering times are at best so no harm in a wek or two more. It is easy to find pics of ripe bud on the net, like every calyx is swollen and every red hair is receded into the calyx and gone scraggly. Microscope is handy but you should be able to see the amber trics without a microscope on white widow, patches of amber trics especially on the older leaves and calyxs.

I never liked the microscope way even when i had one so never really bothered much with it, every thing looked really cool at thirty times the size though. Peace
top advice kingrow u and samual seem to do the same, ur probly right there on waiting another week i need it to b right, lookin for some couch lock to go wiv my early harvested one wich is head high, so will b watching them calyx form n hairs receeding before juming in there, the nugs do look very nice n there pretty solid to so lookin forward to this one so much, coz as i sed i av never gone this far into flower,, plus i here what ur saying about its not 8 weeks from 12/12 but roughly 8 weeks from when it started to flower, n i would also agree that 8 weeks is only a guide. peace out man

8 weeks of flowering, not 12/12. Flowering begins when it begins, not when you flip the lights. They also tend to give times assuming that you prefer a clear/milky high and from their fastest phenos. If you get a slow pheno and prefer a stony couchlock you'll find their times are lowballed.

I'm no expert, but I would say based on the picture that it's not ready yet. Looks great though, good job & good luck.
thanx roland i will wait untill it looks more mature, mayb another ten days,. then that wud be 8 weeks plus since sex showed

It's your bud. Experiment with it a bit and see what you prefer. IME you get much better flavor, aroma and potency (and not just couchlock) from ripe buds, same as other fruit, vegetables or flowers. (cannabis is a just plant after all)

Yer you get use to seeing new white pistils as the older ones start to go red, wait till the plant stops growing lots of new bud and new white pistils, eventually more are turning red and receding than new white ones are sprouting and growing. Now the bud is starting to mature. When it looks real swelled everywhere and almost all red receded hairs and almost every calyx is swollen even the newly formed ones it is probably a good time to harvest. Harvest up to one or two weeks from this point.

Easier to watch a plant flower over time to see how it is maturing rather than just look at the buds and say its done. Fruit and veg is exactly the same, should be able to see it change and swell as it matures, when it looks like it has matured and swollen enough and taken on mature colours you know its good to eat.

Microscopes suck imo but people will use them, farmers just look at the crop and go get the combine harvester when ready, they aint got time for microscopes and tests just a quick glance is enough, if you know what your growing well enough thats all you need. Peace

Tonight if i remember i will post some google pics of what looks done imo, you can see the amber trics without a microscope when its done anyway on my whitewidow at least. Couchlock rocks but gets too much after a while, i prefer nice tasting mellow buds these days and not wanting to get blasted more just happily stoned. Peace

Hopefully others will post some ripe bud pics, check out the swollen calyxs and amber trics in the second pic, dont need a magnifying glass to see these.

Just a rough idea, more pics of ripe bud the better, obviously some buds will mature at slightly different times i.e. the lower buds take a bit longer. Peace

Still check with the microscope just out of intrest just and to reassure yourself, is good experience and microscopes rock for seeing really small things, i was like looking at leaves and stems and bugs as well as trichs, i still use it for random things. Peace

Yer when some start to go amber they all seem to turn, right at the end that generally is. Picture one with the diagram seems wrong to me, i like to harvest at the last stage personally for couchlock. See all them swollen calyxs, like little balls or bunches of grapes, that is all i have ever had off good weed and a good sign of mature bud. I suppose the only worry is they overmature, sometimes my trics never turn very amber when the bud looks done. I am sure you should be confident with the microscope and some ripe bud pics to do it by eye. Let us know how it turns out and try post some pics of the buds soon so we can see as well. Peace

The buds at top will mature fastest and the sugar leaves coming out of the buds will mature faster as well. I like to wait till there are some amber trichs on the middle buds, not the sugar leaves, but the bud itself. I am about at the same stage of flower as you, waiting......
