Ya just want to bend the top down to say the center of the plant. This will make the braches grow at each node. Each branch will have a bud on the top. Its nothing to have 16 to 20 of these. You want to flower when the plant is mature enough to do so. ALTERNATING NODES is when you want to start flowering.(2 months is a good guide)

Keep the likt like 2 inches from the light, it wont burn it and the plant wont stretch you can flower whenever you want. i would Veg for at least 2 weeks, there not really mature even then and wont produce much.. but they try adjusting your light and grow them to half the size you want them, then induce flowering by 12/12 and the will about double their size.

OK...seems like people are thinking that vegging your plant is when it pops out of the ground. Your veg cycle doen't start until the plant is about 3-4 weeks old...the first 3 weeks of the plants life is called seedling stage...after that it enters veg stage. Don't grow your plant to only 3 weeks of age...it is no where NEAR the age of maturity.

BEND THE TOP OF THE PLANT DOWN! THAT MAKES THE BRANCHES GROW! It is all so called LST LOW stress training. Take the top of your plant and a bread twister and bend the top down secure with bread twister. bracnhes will start growing in a few days.

thts something i really dont wanna do. i mean i could see that working but if you tie it down. then you have an odd ass looking plant with a main cola facing the ground.

would TOPPING or FIM'ing work also?

Hey good point HomeGrownBoy. I think a lot of us newbies (at least myself) have been confused about that point that the Veg stage does not start at day one above ground. I have a bunch of babies at 3 weeks old so they are just now going to the veg stage - I have been so confused and did not even know it! Thanks for the info

Good advice DirtBoy. That IS the EASIEST way to do it. I always like to top my plant and then i tie down all the side branches to get even more bud sites.

Go here GROWFAQ
Then look at LST Training.

A tip bread ties suck ass. Take a coat hanger and get a pair of pliers and cut a 2 in piece off make a hook on one end. Take the hook place over the stem and use the other end to stake the plant down.
Once you read the LST FAQ in the above link you will understand.
With bread ties you have to fumble around with the tie to get it to secure the plant and risk damaging your plant in the process. With the coat hanger method you just bend the plant and shove the stake down, it's way easier and less chances of damaging the plants.
