Fox Farm Feeding Schedule...WTF?

I just bought Fox Farm nutes for soil: Grow Big, Big Bloom & Tiger Bloom.

According to their feeding schedule, you should be using 6 tsp of Big Bloom with seedlings and cuttings all the way through week 3. Then introduce Grow Big at week 2 with 2 tsp.

Does this make sense to anyone? I could use some input from users of Fox Farm nutes as to their feeding schedule. TIA

it works as long as your plants are not weak to start with.

I don't think so~? I would never add anything to my seedlings until they used up what they where born with. Once the cotyledon leafs turn yellow, then I start with mild, mild nutes.


The cotyledons contain (or in the case of gymnosperms and monocotyledons, have access to) the stored food reserves of the seed. As these reserves are used up, the cotyledons may turn green and begin photosynthesis, or may wither as the first true leaves take over food production for the seedling.

YES, do exactly what the feeding schedule says, i use foxfarms nutes with great successs, the fuckin big bloom is real nice shit man, you can practically pour it straight outta the bottle on your plants it is so weak, but in hindsight don't mistake how weak big bloom is for how important it is. the plants simply love it. just pray that your soil mix is good and free of any time release funk nutes, cuz that will leed to complications come late flower, believe me, been there, fucked that up... but now i got my soil in check and i am using FF and cal mag for my grow and there is no signs of overfeediong at all. it says to use straight water for every other watering, but I substitute that with 3tsp big bloom and 1/2tsp calmag. then when it comes feeding time i blast them with all that they need. it's working awesome for me this way. also, you should invest in the open sesame,beastie bloomz, and cha ching , (they are part of the flowering schedule in conjuction with the nutes you alrdy bought) , i know they are fuckin pricey but hey, they will last ya a long fuckin time. outta the whole lineup big bloom gets used the most. for every quart of grow big and tiger bloom used, i would say i go through a gallon or two of big bloom........ big bloom is good stuff bro, dont be scared of overdoin it with big bloom cuz you will have a hard time, use caution while administering all the rest though cuz they are quite a bit more strong and could hurt them gals a lot more than the big bloom ever could. all in all i am very satisfied with foxfarm nutrients though... they work

the reasoning for the cal mag supplement up in the mix is without it i would always get necrotic spottage on the leaves of the gals, like they came down with chickenpox, lol ... i have read through countless posts and have read more than once that the FF lineup lacks calcium and magnesium, so i blast em with the cal mag 1/2 tsp in every gallon i water with and would ya know it, NO MORE SPOTS BRA also make sure to get yourself a nice water ph tester for your brews , once i get my gals feed in between 6.4 -6.8 i douse them sluts..... there is no exact ph for me, just that ballpark zone and i consider it gold

That is my understanding as well. I see no point in adding something it doesn't need, it's wasting money.

Big Bloom is just bat/seagull shit and earthworm castings. It is a micro nutrient. That is why it is a .01- 0.3- 0.7.

I have used it on seedling with no problems. I would suggest going easy if you are using FFOF soil or some other nute rich soil, but I think the plants love it.

The only other thing is that Big Bloom is the one you will go through the most out of the trio...so take that into account if you want to use it this early. Your seedlings will make it without use, but I followed the entire line of products and got some good results.

I never do what the bottle says..except weeks 3-5 in flower..besides that i'd cut there dosages by at least 20%

I've always waited a month, then start using 1/4 doses of grow big big bloom the first couple feedings. Then boost the doses to about half and so on. When I switch light schedule I drop the grow big and start light doses of tiger bloom and build that up to full doses. I also add bud candy to the mix. I find this works splendedly. but if he's using tap water then he doesn't need cal-mag..i personally never have used cal mag cuz i've never had to..i use half tap and half distilled water every time..tap water is calcium rich

I think it depends one where you get your water from. I've looked at my water supply readings and it lacks a decent amount of calcium and magnesium. Which supports my last grow where I ran into problems. Too see your water readings just do a search for the supply in your area and they should have water testing results posted.

all tap has calcium and magnesium but yea your right the numbers do change depending where u live of course..where im at its to high so i use half tap water and half distilled water

I am going to be using FFoF soil, and I read in several books that you do not feed plants the first 2 weeks of growth, which only adds to my confusion. I will be using straight tap water for my watering.

I was thinking of laying off the feeding until the 3rd week and then following the recommended schedule. Does that make sense???

Sounds like a plan. Did that my first grow and they came out fine. FFoF has everything those little ladies need for the first two or three weeks.

Don't stress the small stuff and do not go by that schedule like it is the Bible. Learn the signs of what your plant wants and you will figure it out. FF stuff is pretty hard to mess up....except Tiger Bloom. That can get ya if you do not ease into it.

I use the tri-pack but mine has BB at 2TBS per gallon until week 5 of veg then it ups to 3...still never had an issue with FF products, except FFOF can be a little strong for some strains in early growth..
