Read about Ruderalis. I once grew from bagseed , one turned out to be an autoflower,(I had always wondered why it didn't grow as big as the others) some kind of lowryder? and then it hermied , but I felt no loss and was glad to be able to get more space in my room.

Post up some pics. But from what I gather from this post, your bad quality of weed is probably due to your lack of curing. It's really just something you need to go through properly AT LEAST ONCE, and you will understand.

What I mean is, weed is NOT GOOD after it is recently cut. Some people will tell you they smoke their herb freshly cut and some say it's good.... well I think that is just the 'placebo effect' getting to them. In that since they have grown their OWN HERB, they can't objectively realize that non-cured herb is just shit to smoke and really not worth the bother.

On my first harvest, I tried some quick dry bud from my plant, then each day while it was drying, and then curing, each day I would sample the bud. And I could tell that with EACH DAY of curing, the herb got better each day. The overall taste, the buzz, the smell and the herb even begins to burn more smoothly the longer it cures. IMO, I feel it's not even worth messing with herb until a minimum of 14 days curing. I think if one goes through seeing exactly how the cure effects the smoke each day, doing this exercise ONCE will alleviate the need to want to rush this final step.

NOW..... when I have a harvest, I don't even bother with all that quick-dry or smoking as soon as my buds dry. I JUST WAIT!!! I have some herb that I harvested early March, began curing it the 8th of March....... I won't even try it out until about the 29th of March. So that's a full 3 weeks AFTER beginning to cure, and close to a full month after harvest. But I KNOW it's not worth the bother to mess with it before that.

I definately agree with pelt1 about the placebo effect. I smoked that bud with people and they said it got them high. I want to grow high quality bud, but i'm definately not going to say it gets me high when it doesn't lol. I did grow a plant from bagseed last fall and that got me alittle buzz, and i let that sit for a week before trying it. After that i grew all autos. The yield sucked due to my lack of understanding back then of controlling ph. I just recently learned how to control ph. My speed devil that's almost done had a major ph problem and has those copper spots all over it. Will that greatly affect it? I will post pics really soon of all my plants. My white widow,super skunk, and kandy kush show no deficiencies except the ph of the soil for the white widow and kandy kush was alittle off, but that's fixed now. Should i wait to flower them till all the leaves are back to normal, or is it fine now? The super skunk looks perfect. I will have pics up within an hour.

I do this thing they call flushing.

When I know I'm coming up on the last week for the strain and the plant it showing her last herahh.
I flush through 1 gallon of water for every gallon of medium and then let the plant dry before giving it any more water.

This removes the chemical taste from all of the burning nutes in the plant.
It also helps with the plant or green taste becuse the plant uses it's own natural fibers for last day nutes.

Agreed 100%. I started out with autos ,big waste of time and money, and they don't grow as advertised and also didn't get me high. All my other grows come out nice.

I really think you are drying too short and not curing your weed from what I have read so far.

Research drying and long curing and I assume you will have a much better end result.

I'm going to go with genetics or maybe your not feeding enough. The potency of each strain is genetic. Has nothing to do with drying or curing. Drying & curing is for taste , smell and overall smoothness of smoke. Not potency ... You either have shit genetics, or need to look at you environment and feeding... Just my opinion though..

Also I'll add that it's possible your plants were genetically ruderallis dominant. And ruderallis is definitely the least potent of the bunch..

was the first time i grew mj, 3 11w cfls, a computer fan, some cheap soil and way too soon into the flowering stage.

got about a gram off the plant and it didnt even slightly make me high.

next time around, i used a bit more light and a better situation and same strain and it got me bit high (few more grams too)

wasnt till my third grow, exact same strain (looked the same too, just lots better and bigger)
when i added some more lights and had researched some more. much better conditions.

then that exact same strain made me so high i almost couldnt believe it.

Exactamundo. The environment plays a huge roll. Along with genetics. I'm totally noobular myself bro but it's pretty simple to see what your issues are.

I've had this same problem too. It's not that you didn't grow it long enough ( that does matter to though lol ) but you probably didn't dry/cure it right.... MAKE SURE IT DRYS FOR 5 DAYS+ WITH HUMIDITY 45% -+5% WITH A FAN BLOWING AROUND NOT ON THEM. You have to allow time for the chlorophly to come out and thc, cbd, cbn to start having chemical reactions + probably more things lol. MAKE SURE IT'S DARK TO IN THE DRY ROOM.

Then cure in a dark cool place... I use underneath my sink.. Once nugs are dry, put them into mason jars for a month or longer openning them up atleast once daily for 10mins or how ever long.. then cap and repeat...

Not 100% on everything but thats what I do/understand my shit gets meh ripped.

Also forgot to add, take it from me... Nothing that involves growing cannabis is quick.. Don't rush shit, because in the end you'll still end up 3 months in with poop weed that don't make you high.

Stop growing autos and relying on the seed packet timetables. Learn what type of high you like and harvest when the trichomes are at your desired color, not a given number of days. Every grow is different and the given finish times are not exact.

I am cutting my speed devil down tommorow and i want know what i can do to get high from my bud, or is it that i suck at growing bud? I see threads on here all the time with people talking about how they get high after they picked buds off their plant. I picked a branch off and its been drying for 5 days. I tried smoking a bowl today, but it still had that plant smell and did not taste good. What should i do? Thanks for the help.

what should you do? either stop trying to grow.. or educate yourself on the subject and keep going forward.

I can already tell you why your buds don't get you high.

1. your harvesting WAY too early
2. Your not drying the buds properly
3. Your not curing your buds

and for #4: You have no idea what your doing.


If your serious about growing... then get serious and start reading and doing research.

If your not truly wanting to know how to grow.. and don't have that passion inside of you.. then don't grow.

Its not easy growing.. but then again, its not rocket science.

Can't tell much from the pics..they look fine.....if dried well, start your cure process..... my speed devil was some badass shit...some of the more potent I've grown...did mine in controlled environ & finished per breeders recs....
On the auto thing, I grow mostly autos and I'd put potency of most of'em up against any photo I've grown....been doing it for years, ain't gonna change.....most of my photo-loving friends have included autos into their systems because of mine.....

ive been popping seeds for the last 4 years and none of it gets me high ,

i have had a few here and there that had a little buzz , but nothing i would keep
