Welcome to my DIY ultrasonic fogger thread. first i'm showing you just a cheap illustration of the fogger unit I will be building. Easily transports from room to room, can be used as a foliar feed system or can easily adapt to hydroponic systems. A picture is worth a thousand words. so take a look before i explain how it works.no humidifier required, runs on very little power and costs about $50-80 to make depending on how resourceful you are. compared to $350 and up in stores. If this exact fogger has been done before somebody please stop me.

im going to make a box...similar to a shoe box, give or take.... and do it like that.

Ya man this is it. I havn't ordered any parts yet though. I'm still looking for a good deal on a 12v fan with adjustable volt power supply pack because the one on the futuregarden website costs too much. Loudblunts. do you know how to make variable speed computer fan by regulating its voltage? i.e.(3v-12v) what kind of adapter would be needed to make the connections?

What you're looking for is a potentiometer. I used one to regulate speed of spin on an agar mixer I constructed out of magnets, pc fan and a wall adapter. The potentiometer is a variable resister which acts to reduce power to said electronic device... thus reducing mechanical spin in this instance.

Buy a potentiometer from Radio Shack or similar electronics suppliers. Simply wire it in between the fan wall adapter and the device. I over powered the fan initially to adjust for the latent resistance of the potentiometer. It is a resister after all. What I mean by this is... lets say the fan needs 12volts at one amp and your potentiometer acts to reduce power up to one amp. You will not ever see that one amp at the fan due to resistance in the potentiometer... even when it's full open. I used a 12 volt 1 amp fan, a two amp potentiometer and a 12 volt, 2 amp wall adapter. Power reduction was in a twist of the knob on the potentiometer. HOPE THIS HELPS!

You can just use a PC fan controller,they're cheap enough and i'd just use a computer PSU to controll all the 12v stuff anyhoo's.If you need some links ill get them but just start at Newegg or some place like that.

The potentiometer cost is approx. .13 per unit... you won't find anything cheaper for what you need and they are fairly available... more so than something you'll order over the net.

I just built one, I'll do a DIY thread and it came out to be pretty cheap and easy.











I am prepared to lose every clone in search of perfecting the fogger cloner I built.

Killed the first batch with bad timing, they dried out. Working it again with different conditions.

where do you put the nutes? looks good except this DIY thread i started was not intended to be a cloning fogger, Those are the easiest things in the world to build, the system i had in mind operates a little different then what you built. Has anybody built one yet ? If not i could coach somebody through all this if they are willing to get all the parts needed to build the unit. I have all the blueprints and links to websites if you need them. It would be a good investment for you. So think about it

nutes end up killing the discs. So I just run clean water now and have an aeroponic misting system. Check the thread for the updates. The fogger is just there for fine root growth while the aeroponic system pumps misted water on the roots.

I did not have to build mine but it is the same concept with a self leveling chamber for fog creation and a fan to move the fog to the chamber and a nifty little blue LED in the 1 gal reservoir that is easy to fill. I modified it a bit but did not break the warranty. Total cost about $36 for the fogger. It is currently hooked up to my new aeroponic cloner/veg unit that basically uses the top of my clone/veg tub as a light/humidiy hood.:weed:

And trust me a fog cloner is not the easiest thing to build, nutrients work completely different in ultrasonic fog. It will help develop finer root structure but will not give the pant enough nutrient. IMO an ultrasonic fog cloner is not the way to go just yet. The nutrient problems and pH swings are a losing battle.

how much fog is enough? not enough the roots will dry but what happens if there's too much? it'll condensate and start polluting the tank?
planning on getting a aeroponic system going so help is welcome

This is a DIY thread I don't know who tried to turn my shit into some kind of clone fogger grow journal. Thats not what this thread is about, and its not why i started it. its been a whole year and still nobody has taken a try at my kick ass blueprints from the very first post on this thread. Its like i handed you all golden nuggets but you just use them for paper weights.Billy Mays is going to be crawling out of his grave tryin to pitch my new product right now.I guess i just have to do everything myself around here. lucky for you guys i've made a few modifications to my hydroponic innovation that will have you shittin bricks. so i hope there is still a little more room left on this thread so i can take you guys to school in fogponics 101 with photos this time, not illustrations. so then you can grow fat nugs like me.

don't worry about too much fog. as long as your roots have plenty of OXYGEN, thats what matters. the more fog the better. i would recomend a single disc teflon fogger for any air chaamber less than 18 cubic inches. anything larger you would need to move up to a triple head fogger, just DO NOT rig a humidifier up as part of a fogger system if you plan on using the technique on larger plants. they work well for basic water applications , but begin to break down once you start adding a lot of nutrients to your solution
