Western Winds (Kali Mist)

Strain: Western Winds by Sagarmatha Seeds. I've heard this is the same strain as Kali Mist, but the Sagarmatha version came feminized, which I prefer for my limited grow space.

Growth: As suggested by the breeder, I grew this plant 12/12 from seed. I've never done a 12/12 before, so I just hung four 42 watt CFLs (three red, one blue) from a bike in the closet and hooked up a timer and a fan. Voila. (And people make growing seem so complicated.)

Nutes: Started the seed in a five gallon pot filled with organic soil, worm castings, sphagnum moss, dolomite lime, perlite, bone meal and some organic fert with a picture of a hippy chick on the label. I barely used any nutes throughout the grow as the plant seemed pretty happy from day one. 15 weeks from seed to harvest.

I've grown some nice sativas in the past, Super Silver Haze, Hawaiian Snow, but this was, by far, the most sativa-ish plant I've ever seen. Narrow leaves, spindly stems that couldn't hold up the buds, it was a healthy plant, but it was not an attractive, robust plant. It's a McLovin.

Yield: I got about two ounces dry and cured, and probably half that amount of high quality trim. Speaking of trimming, this stuff was impossible to work with, and by far the stickiest plant I've ever grown.

Bag Appeal: This is some weird looking bud, it reminds me more of seaweed or moss than conventional bud. It is super light and fluffy too, way beyond what you would normally attribute to the CFLs. If you wanted an ounce, you better bring along a laundry basket. I have it curing in 3 large jars, it just has a huge volume to weight ratio.

Smell: Here is where it gets interesting. After two months, it took on a floral fragrance that was just intoxicating. Seriously, it smelled like Anne Hathaway's pussy after she spent the afternoon in a hot tub full of apple juice. Simply a glorious aroma.

Taste: Floral, fruity, smooth after a two week cure. Best tasting weed I've grown to date, and it smells better than it tastes so far.

The High: This is not your night time sleepy weed. It cranks everything visual up a couple of notches, and you can become super focused. Somewhat euphoric, energetic, nice and social without making you stupid, and long lasting. I'd give it four or five hours before you think about taking a nap. My wife says it makes her feel "light and prancey" (no, I didn't know "prancey" was a word either) and very creative. I love it, and I'm glad I saved my first review for this, as it is truly outstanding.

Comments: It must have gone hermy as I found 10 seeds when I trimmed, which I consider to be a great gift given the quality of this weed. I topped, LST'ed and staked this plant to keep it under control or it would have been huge. I'd say this plant was the homely librarian who suddenly takes off her glasses and shakes out her hair, revealing something truly exceptional.

Sorry about the lack of photos, but I don't think it's prudent.

Kali Mist from Serious Seeds below, because a smoke report without pics is.....weak ;).

Definitely an incredible daytime smoke as I find it hard to sleep after smoking Kali Mist. Slightly euphoric, motivating, rushy, happy, social, clear, loooong lasting, carefree, just a spectacular smoke that totally creeps up on you and gently lets you down with zero 'burnt out' or tired feeling. The scent is spicy, sweet and exotic (lavender, pine, citrus). If you like sativas, this one is a must.

Sleet,

I'm hoping to buy some WW beans like yours, how long ago did you buy your seeds.

Thanks in advance J

The seeds look to be still available at Attitude, mine were shipped last fall.

As far as height goes, I topped it, supercropped it and LSTed it as much as I could. It ended up with a nice even bushy canopy about two and a half feet above the surface of the pot. I think the 12/12 light may have made it a bit lankier than it would have been under a more normal veg/flower lighting schedule. If I had to make a guess about how high it would grow without any space constraints, it would have been around five feet high, even under CFLs.

J- I just got my Western Winds seeds via the tude- so far, 4/5 germ rate:joint: They just took a little longer than other strains to pop a taproot /

the guy at sagarmatha use to work at the same company as the guy at serious seeds. When they parted ways they each took kali mist to their new company, sagarmatha renamed hs western winds. They say though western winds is the true kali mist, as serious seeds have introduced indica genetics to add weight and reduce flower time, so ww is the pure kali mist.
