there should be passive intake flaps on your tent. also are you asking about how you should run your carbon filter?

if thats the case then there are many different ways to run your filters,
for example
filter in the tent attached to the fan with ducting running out
most people run their filters this way (easiest option imo).
heres a picture of the way i run mine.
although im a newb at this as well its just a trend i notice.
hope i can help
I was at the store figuring out my setup today

I didn't know you could run the air through the hood :) that's awesome

I think ill have the filter inside, running through the hood, then fan on the inside pumping air out. Sound good?

And its a hood with a digital ballast..250w. where do you guys put your ballasts? Inside, outside, mounted on the wall? Again, very nooby to hps/mh.. getting the equipment later in the week

I like to keep all plugs, ballasts and any other out side the tent, as it give you more space in the tent and less chance of risking a spill on electrics. As for the cool tube set up it sounds fine mate, thats how im going to be running mine, got every thing except filter and cool tube. You could have the fan out side the tent if you wanted. Just remember the more ducting and bends in the ducting less air flow. Good luck webb

Yeah I could have the fan on the outside.. but I think having it on the inside would be more advantagous.. more noise dampening and higher rate of flow from the inside.. plus it would just be easier to die up/bungie cord the inline fan/filter, yes?

How much heat do inline fans create?

Would the tent be cooler if fan is outside?
The one pulling fresh air across my glass hooded light can get really hot in veg stage, not as much in flowering. I have one inside the tent near the hood and one outside the tent, assisting it. Since I've added the second one outside the tent, the one inside runs much cooler.

Does it get hot from the heat from the light, or make its own heat?

not much, and it will be pushed out anyway. Shouldn't be an issue.
Thanks for the replies

I'm sure it's a combination of the two. I happened to look up at my remote thermometer base for the tent and it read 92! I threw AC into emergency mode and opened tent and that fan was hot. Since putting a 2nd fan on that same duct line, outside the tent, both fans run cool. The exhaust feels slightly cooler too.

heres some pics of my tent set up from my first grow in the tent, might help u with some ideas!..i mount my ballast to the floor outside the tent on a piece of wood...the cooler ur ballasts the better!
I eneded up connectin the other light to some flex that went out the tent to cool both hoods!

Wait I'm confused. Are you running the hot air outside of the tent? It looks like the entire system is inside? Nothing exhausting??

Also: Does the inline fan just come with NOTHING to hook it up to the ceiling? Like do I need to buy some metal plate mount or something?

I'm not sure how I will mount this 'phresh filter'.. it's one of those aluminum can things, that supposedly has better activated carbon inside, and it's lighter and smaller? Not sure how I will get that on the ceiling with the inline fan and ducting.. Are you using zip ties to attach the ducting to the filter, and the ducting to the inline fan?

In my old set up the white fan connected to the carbon filter is exhaust, other fan cools both hoods, they meet to a T and both blow out of the tent.. the light was connected to flex and ran out the tent to suck in cool air..only 1 fan was exhausting air (fan connected to carbon filter)

In my current set up its the same white fan connected to a T so i can cool my light and clean/exhaust air from my tent with 1 fan..only reason i ran 2 fans on my first tent grow was cause i had to cool 2 lights!..

Verde- both my can fans came with the brackets u can see on them, i hang them with zip ties so theres no vibration at all!..i use zip ties for almost everything in the tent..their easy to put things up and just as easy to take down! my carbon filter is heavy so thats the only thing that doesnt get a zip tie lol..

Hello all,

So i was looking to buy a grow tent

looking for 5x5 and 6' tall

Was wanting to run c02 and wondering if all tents are air tight and will work good with c02 or if anyone can make me a good recommendation

dont really need vent holes as im running LEDs THAT ARE AWESOME AND CFLs CANT TOUCH THEM, LOL (sorry getting sick of people knocking them when they havent seen them first hand)

but anyways, places like gotham hydro sell the size im looking for, for around 120 and others like jardin want like 350$

are they all perfectly air tight and perfectly dark and light blocking? i am new to tents and wanting to get a quality one that will last a long time

thanks for any and all input
