what is the suggested about of lumens need to grow 1 plant. from start to finsh or what would be the suggested amount for each 3 main stage's of growth.

Hi, more light, better results! It is that simple, if you provided a budget that you have to live by, that would have made your question easier to answer.
Having said that, I've seen one plant grown under a 1000 watt hps, with two 400 watts as side lighting, and it yeilded 3.5 lbs.
If your budget is $50.00 or less you have no decision to make except cfl's, if you can come up with slightly more, get a 400 watt hps.
As your budget grows, so do your options.

veg: 2000 - 3000 lumens/sqft
flower: 7000 - 10000 lumens/sqft
thanks splifman thats what i was looking for what a good amount of lumens to use in a grow i didnt know i didnt to say how much i was planing on spending just what is a good amount .

btw im using cfl's thats y i ask so i know how many i will need.

42w 2700k CFLs are 2600 lumens. Sounds like 4. I have 10 for 5 plants, but a little different setup.

My plants are surrounded by light and in an enclosed area with push / pull vent. Not that it is that big of a deal, but I have not see it before. See enclose pic.

I also have 5 18w eco-floros, but they are not doing much in light of the CFLs. They are what I started out with. I added the CFLs after figuring out I needed much more light to find success.

yes i am finding that out also as im goin on with my reading,and posting.i have 5-13w (60w replacments). i am only 2weeks in about another week i hope im getting like hoping 10-55w(think 105w replacments) but not 10 atleast 5 and then the 5 13w on the sides of my space when im done ill get some pics up.

Lumen Requirements For Plants

Seedlings= 375
Clones= 375
Vegetative= 2,500
Flowering= 10,000
 
Top
