agreed..if it's a planned pregnancy, i would be even mroe health-conscious than i already am..for atleast a few good weeks/months. it takes two to make a baby. i want as little toxins, chemicals, foreign substances, mind-altering substances as possible...that includes all vaccinations
Finally someone I can relate to. When I have kids, they won't be getting any vaccinations. AT ALL. They'll be home-schooled also.
Don't need the public-fool system to turn my kids into non-critically thinking, placid zombies.

Sorry that was off subject. Carry on, don't even reply. ;)

I wouldn't smoke if I were to get pregnant.. Marijuana is harmless we all know that, but weed does effects the nervous system which allows you to mellow down and relax... but it also effects your immune system which is harmless to us as adults. But if I were to get pregnant and smoking weed, it will effect my nervouse system which controls my immune system causing my baby to develop a autoimmune disease... that's what my physician told me... I actually didn't ask her.. but she figure she better tell me since she knows I smoke alot...

if you are interested in real science instead of stoned uneducated conjecture, check out the discussion from a university study done in jamaica. there is a link to the full study at the bottom.

Although no positive or negative neurobehavioral effects of prenatal exposure were found at 3 days of life using the Brazelton examination, there were significant differences between the exposed and nonexposed neonates at the end of the first month. Comparing the two groups, the neonates of mothers who used marijuana showed better physiological stability at 1 month and required less examiner facilitation to reach an organized state and become available for social stimulation. The results of the comparison of neonates of the heavy-marijuana-using mothers and those of the nonusing mothers were even more striking. The heavily exposed neonates were more socially responsive and were more autonomically stable at 30 days than their matched counterparts. The quality of their alertness was higher; their motor and autonomic systems were more robust; they were less irritable; they were less likely to demonstrate any imbalance of tone; they needed less examiner facilitation to become organized; they had better self-regulation; and were judged to be more rewarding for caregivers than the neonates of nonusing mothers at 1 month of age.

I was one of the lucky few to escape the public school system with my sanity and an ability to critically think. I lay a lot of thanks on my mother who is a critical thinker. Public education in this country is a fucking joke. It's more like an assembly line than a place of learning.

Your kids are going to be anti social... that's not very healthy. I would rather my kid be a zombie then an anti social serial killer living with 2 cats. AM JOKING lol do what you want with your kids :)

well i'm replying!!! lol, i posted a vaccinations thread in the politics forum before but it wasn't too popular..at least not as much as the new world order thread or global warming thread:
https://www.rollitup.org/politics/377099-vaccinations-swine-flu.html

agreed...the public school system in the US is horrible..but so is the "higher learning"..american colleges and universities are horrible.

anyway back on topic...even if some research studies proved that marijuana was not harmful or even good for a baby in womb..i still wouldn't want my woman to smoke.

I am not reading all, but will voice my humble opinion.
Cannabis does not harm adult brains, but infant brains are forming the pathways of a new life. THAT SHOULD NOT BE INTERFERED WITH, as we all know that in the early years is where children pick up language and other skills. That process should be drug free.
IMHO, pot is 100% safe for adults, but I am not so sure for infants and children. It won't kill them, but the brain is still developing.

it's not willful ignorance. i think a lot of other members will tell you that i thoroughly research the things i say (in the politics forum, not here).

like i said earlier, i want my child to dwell in a completely natural environment. smoke is a foreign to the body. i don't want anything to interfere with my childs development. if you want to smoke or have your wife smoke when she's pregnant, that's fine with me. i couldn't give a fuck. me? i prefer my baby to be nurtured in a natural and healthy environment with no external interferences.

what the fuck does religion have to do with this?

also anecdotally, i know a number of women that smoked during their first trimester in order to be able to function through bad morning sickness. pot was the only thing that got rid of the nausea. also i have heard of women smoking pot during the birth instead of having an epidural.

Why would you want to take your child's childhood away from them. Just because you don't agree with the system doesn't mean to cast your kid from society. Your child deserves to go to there junior high school dance, have there first kiss in the bleachers... going to there prom, homecomings and throwing there graduating hats in the air. Public school is not all about higher learning.. it's about interacting, socializing, physical freedom ... it's the best years of a kids life. I actually wish I can do it all over again and wouldn't change a thing.. those were the best years of my life. Why take that away from them. sorry my 2cents Pce.

lolll@michael

someone posted the jamaican study earlier in the thread.

one of the biggest sample studies on the subject along with a handful found no major differences between children born with mothers who smoked and children with mothers who didn't smoke. but there are still other studies that conclude that there are adverse effects from marijuana use during pregnancy. [i won't be researching this in depth because im not having a child soon] my point is it can go both ways but why put another variable into the equation that can affect the outcome especially when it's your offspring?
