So I love all the gardens, what about the dogs that guard them?

right on...thx! I have been feeding him WELL! I walked him around the property yesterday to show him the perimiter, and he stays up by the house. In my eyes, everything deserves a 2nd chance! I know there is alot of rumors about the breed, and most of the time its from ppl neglecting them in some way and setting them off. here is a couple more pics, and you can see how skinny he is..BTW, does he look like he has alot of pit in him?

Good for you for rescuing that dog. I don't know how people can abandon animals like that. You just needs to take your time with him so he can get used to you. It seems like the dogs that have had a rough life allways turn out to be great dogs to the people who finally treat them right. That dog looks like a black lab to me, I don't see any pit in him.

Yea, that's the SHIIIIT! Gruesome, aweful bloodthirsty killers.
Yeah! Man you got to watch them PitBulls!! They are the worst. Just ask the media, they will tell you..

90% of the dog attacks towards humans, the media claims pit bulls. 90% of the pics they show of the dog that attacked someone, never even rubbed up against the PitBull. The media needs a story. Its unfortunate that it is at the PitBulls expense. They are trying to make the breed extinct.... My philosophy has always been, "punish the deed, not the breed"..... People forget that a PitBull is not the only breed of dog that was bred for fighting... Difference is, they have the least dog to human bite ratio than any other breed in the world.. Not only is the PitBull the most loyal dog in the world, its the only breed of dog in the world that will give its life for its family. Look it up...

Well I took "Buddy" on a walk through the woods today to water the plants, and he wondered away a little ways snooping around. So I continued to water the plants and heard a high pitch noise coming from the direction he was in. The 1st thing I thought was he he got into a barbwire fence. But no....he found a young fawn and chased it till he jumped across a creek bed and got away. He was all pumped up and right on his ass, he wanted the deer bad...lol Just thought I would share...it cracked me up

My life is likely to last 10-15 years, any separation from you will be painful for me. Remember that before you buy me.

Give me time to understand what you want from me, don't be impatient, short-tempered, or irritable.

Place your trust in me and I will always trust you back. Respect is earned not given as an inalienable right.

Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment, I am not capable of understanding why? I only know I have been rejected, you have your work entertainment and friends I only have you.

Talk to me sometimes, even if I don't understand your words I understand your voice and your tone, "you only have to look at my tail".

Be aware that however you treat me I'll never forget it, and if it's cruel it may affect me forever.

Please don't hit me I can't hit back, but I can tear your arm off and i would never want to do that!

Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right foods or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak, I may be just dog tired.

Take care of me when I get old. You too will grow old and may also need love, care, comfort, and attention.

Go with me on difficult journeys, never say, "I can't bear to watch" or "Let it happen in my absence". Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember, irrespective of what you do I will always love you.:leaf:
++1 again on your thread....this brought a tear, especially the end, about to go on that journey soon with our old girl, and she will not nor has ever been, alone on a journey. I will save, and quote this often. Thanks for sharing it.

A couple of pics, as real-time garden 003.jpgas it gets, taken 5 minutes ago, on the early water and feed run. These two are constant companions out there, but they don't pose very well!

And a shot of the ol' girl, Chewy, in her favorite spot, where she can see out the front door. She's 13 now, and needs a lift to get up, and we are happy to oblige.
