Axjnkee's LED Grow

lbbear: you forgot to mention these things can be on 24/0 for 7 years without degradation of light quality

HID = cheap at first, and it works. You can get 600w digital switchable ballast, reflector, MH and HPS bulbs, in a kit on ebay or under $200 and grow over 1lb of weed. You'll need to replace those bulbs every other grow ( if you're lucky ). Thats like $40 x 3 per year, $120 extra per year. If you do not have heat or space issues, HID is the best set up for the initial price. There are more maintenance costs.

LED = expensive start up costs. near zero maintenance costs for 7+ years. These grow panels haven't been out for 7 years, but the LED's can last that long. If anything a power supply will go bad, and you can get one for cheap from a computer store for like $20. But thats a big maybe. I've had power supplies in electronics last over 10 years. You can buy 600w of LED for about $1k on ebay, and grow over 1lb of weed. You do not need to worry about space or heat issues.
$120 is too much to pay for multiple pounds a year?
Are you crazy? You feeling okay?
How much do you pay for multiple pounds of quality herb? Less than $120?
LOL

I would use all LED if I could afford the, but these ufo's and shit are soooo overpriced.

I have 6 wats of LED and 60 of CFL right now in my closet flowering period.

Let me ask you, honestly what would you call a fair price? For 139.00 you could get a glow panel 45 from sunshine systems, wich I know from experience will grow and flower 2 small plants quite nicely. especially with your 60w cfl.

Until a LED system gets down to $50 I can't do it. I want to, I just don't have the money. I am disabled trying to get disability man. I have no money. lol.

I am on your side man. :)

Need to grow enough herb to make enough cash to buy a panel or two. Just an idea. Gotta be a business man about it and get your grow on. I must say more power to you keepin it cheap and efficient with cfls.

Ax I am diggin the grow. There will always be haters, but I'm your side and will definitely get a sweet grow journal glorifying some led power. I'm thinking 1 90w ufo will do quite well for my 2'x2' space and for only $190 I can definitely see myself getting one. I almost want to throw some northern lights in the closet with one of these and see how much success it can yield haha What are your future grow plans? Got any more girls in flower?

Well I got 16 of these babies that just went outdoors. I have my #3 that fell behind due to light leak that has been on a molasses flush for the last week and will get the ax next week. I did manage to get 4 more clones from my clones and got them in flower right now. They are at 3 weeks. As for as getting more Alaskan Ice seeds, it looks like a 2 month wait according to GHS. Both Attitude and Worldwide are out. I will be growing more of this strain in the future. but for now I am going for GHS Thai and Delahaze from paradise next.

I just subscribed to this thread. This is one of the few legit LED journals out there right now...hopefully I'll be following on your footsteps. I decided on LED after coming across those 90w UFOs @ a good price. Hopefully gonna do a micro SOG style in my closet, the energy/heat saving of LED just sounds too tempting!

very very curious about led tech, yours doesn't appear to be marketing hype, subscribed for sure, beautiful looking results =)

Hey axjnkee, very nice results! GOOD WORK!!!

Are you planning on upgrading your wattage for the LEDs anytime soon or ya gonna put more focus into your outdoor ladies more?

thanks jon, frog and crunk. Well I thought I ended this thread...LoL.. Anyways, To answer you question crunk, I am focusing on my outdoors, while its not fully outdoor, its in a greenhouse, so its a little work. My outdoor crop pays for my indoor toys, as I have stated before. I am also in the process of building a new grow room 8x12. I did buy 2 more ufo's because they were on sale due to back order. I may just equip my new room with like 6 90w ufo's...LoL.. or I may just get the 350w hybrid panel because that one has 2w bulbs (in theory better penareation) I dunno yet.

Huh, sounds interesting for sure! If I could grow in a greenhouse I soo would! Nature does best when it comes to pot I believe. :)

Are you going to create a new thread for that or continue this one? Either way you can count on me watching your progress!

Do you think one 90w UFO (gen3 from htg) is adaquate enough to start a mini SOG (around 6 plants)? I eventually want to get two, (for different heights/flowering stages) but want to know if i can roll with one just to get my grow started. Maybe need some supplemental t5 lighting down the side?

Yes it should be enough for a mini sog. As i have stated before in other LED threads, is that they work best when you keep your plants Low and Wide. However I have found with these prosource illuminators penatration is no problem. 1 of my last girls was just under 4 ft. I am sold on them. However there are other serious led companies out there. Lumigrow, hid hut, Sunshine systems, and procyon to name a few. But prosource is what I got and I cant state enough how happy i am with them.
As far as supplimental flourecent light, its up to you. I dont see the need for it. I use pure led only.

Oops...sorry..that was 178 not 278..typo..
178 from 2 plants, so that's over 3 ounces per plant... thats more per plant than i've ever gotten from my HPS setup.. was there room for more plants? for instance if you had grown 6 plants with this exact setup, would they all have produced 3 ounces?

i hope this thread will put to bed any notion that any HPS ,no matter what watt, is better then any LED on the market. LED WILL BE THE LEADER SOMEDAY BUT just not in the next five years. enjoy yer wispy fluffy LED bud. happy growing.
Keep telling yerself yer cool because u use the lates LED tech, tell me if they have so much lumens why dont they use them in parking lots or baseball stadiums hmm?? BECAUSE THEY DONT PUT OUT PROPER LUMENS..
just because the brochure tells u they are using some "secret" spectrum to grow yer plants ..LOL THAT is too funny, its called marketing 101 and you CFL amd LED DONKS JUST KEEP BUYING THEM UP AND hoping u can grow 2lbs a light.
