I've been searching the forum with no luck. My biggest plant is still in veg state but has some swelling right on the nodes of other branches. It doesen't look like balls, but are these early indicators of a male or is it too early? it does have pistiles that shoot up. sorry no pics cam phone to blurry.

if your plant is in veg state, than its mostly sounds like beginning of branches.

you cant tell sex first flowering them.

An early indicator, but not for definate, is a plant that has had the exact same conditions and length of life outgrowing the others by several inches. Males tend to grow faster so that when the do flower they are above the females and can drop their pollen on them. But this doesnt always turn out to be the case.

3 things can come from nodes..leaves, balls and hairs that are the pistils (female, these collect the pollen)).. as time goes on you'll see pistils coming from the stem in places....
you wait till they grow out to balls, leaves...etc... you'll see pods if male....

Yes but you will not see that in the flowering stage you will have to wait until the veging stage.

so i guess no early indicators huh... i'll just wait then gonna start my cycle as soon as my other two catch up which at the rate their growing should be in a couple weeks.

I disagree some plants show their sex prior to the flowering stage I have an afghani plant indica not auto flowering that is 30 days from seed and it has developed pods at first i thought it was growing flowers then they started to appear at every node. The female plant also start showing the pistils at 30 days from seed. It depends on the strain you are growing so make sure you watch all of your plants carefully

A plant will show sex as soon as it matures or when you put it in a flower cycle (12/12). You know your plant is mature and will show sex soon when the branches start to alternate, meaning they don't come out at the same spot on each side. To make your plant show sex without going in to 12/12 you can top it and this will sometimes make it show sex in a week. Also sometimes giving a plant 36 hours of dark then 12 hours of light then 24 hours of dark will also jump start it to flowering and make it show sex. These things only work if the plant is atleast 3 weeks old.

i know its late but i just had five plants from seed 3 of those were short and 2 were tall and yep u guess it the short ones were girls and the tall ones were guys so there you go as long as you are growing all plants the same strain you should easily be able to tell which are which well before the flowering begins
