this question was brought up in a previous thread and i wanted to get a accurate answer.

if you are using a 400 w fixture it will consume exactly 144 kilowatt hours a month or (30 days) 12/12

the formula you need to know is a KwH is 1000w X 1 hour very easy conversion

Instead of blowing the exhaust outside we blow it back inside to help heat the house. Cuts down on the bill a little. Also bathroom is so nice and warm.

I think the real reason cannabis isn't legalized is because too many people would waste electricity growing uncontrollably.

48w @ 12hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $2.62 a month
48w @ 18hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $3.93 a month

150w @ 12hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $8.32 a month
150w @ 18hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $12.47 a month

400w @ 12hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $23.18 a month
400w @ 18hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $34.78 a month

600w @ 12hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $34.27 a month
600w @ 18hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $51.41 a month

1000w @ 12hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $55.44 a month
1000w @ 18hrs x 30 days @ $.14 = $83.16 a month

48 watt light uses 52watts an hr
150 watt light uses 165watts an hr
400 watt light uses 460watts an hr
600 watt light uses 680watts an hr
1000 watt light uses 1100watts an hr

The extra heat does come in handy. Outside of the actual energy cost I also consider how much money will be saved from not having to actually buy bud, that is how I was able to rationalize buying the system.

I agree if you spend over $100 a month on pot its worth growing.

I certainly hope its worth it. I do spend a lot of cash on Canna, and so far iv spent a lot on growing, all the while still spending alot of money consuming, while i wait for the harvest. This whole life style really puts a damper in my wallet! Iv got no job and the money i get i do little side prodjects for. I really hope my investment in growing pays the hell off. I could have gotten a shit ton of weed for wat iv spent on, Lights, Nutes, PH reader, catalyst, fan, grow medium, it just adds up n up n up!Not to mention the INCREDIBLE risk im taking growing cannabis in, well lets just say not the most secure of places. Most folks wouldnt dare take the risks iv taken to grow. iv made a serious commitment to my horticulture, and since im being serious about my growing i hope my yeilds and end product are serious!

I too really really enjoy growing. I love to see the every day progress, how far i can take my babies. I just hope my return is worth all the work. Theres alot to be done from seed to harvest, some times its almost overwhelming having to worrie about so many minnute details. Makin sure every thing is just so, its like a science. Every thing has to be just right, adjusted to the right point in order to have the best of the best.

IF it was legal we would probably starve to death because all the farmers would stop growing wheat and corn and instead grow marijuana the biggest cash crop there is.....j/k. But on the serious note it would be like tabbacco...except nobody would smoke tabboco anymore.they wuold just smoke weed all day long...

For me this started just because I wanted to get my medical marijuana card. But now I have a hobby that I love. Our electric bill has only increased by about $35 a month. That includes lights for both veg and flowering both about 400 watts each and all the goodies that go with them. I figure (this includes replacement parts as needed) I spend about $500 - $600 a year on this hobby. It keep me and my local compassion center in buds and clones. Also I don't buy off the streets (who knows what they have used on their stuff).

There is no reason for that type of a reply. If you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.

The initial investment can cost a lot. But last time I did this, the weed I grew the first time through was worth way more than what I had spent. That was a few years ago, this time I've spent a lot again, but the hps was the most expensive and I already have that. Now I'm just torturing myself looking at these beauties grow, knowing I'm still about a month away from smoking them. All I've got to smoke here at the moment is leaves from some males I killed, which actually aren't all that terrible.
