I am in the process of building a drain to waste aerogarden AKA fatman but havent finished it yet so I am not sure I can help you.

The 2 things you are going to have to take into account if you choose to run drain to waste are...

#1. Are your plants getting enough nutrient in their feeding to justify wasting the remaining nutrients?

#2. Do you make/get your nutrients very cheap and be able to waste the excess nutrients?

The plus side is that the there will be little to no salt buildup.
The negative side will be the price of the nutrients pending how much you use ie. method and number of plants.

True Aeroponic Growing (TAG) is probably the only real method where drain to waste is going to be optimal.

Cheers Jimmy.

slim digital you didnt say what youre using 4 grow medium i do E&F rockwool 4x4 blocks on 3'' slab on second grow & soon to start 3rd grow this is my prefered method i flood 1 time a week & get very good results & spend about$ 100 for nutes every grow 3x3' tray 600w hps 18 gal. reservoir[use 10-15 gal nutes] last harvest mixed strains 3/4lb yield good useable bud & a bunch of popcorn 4 cookies next harvest all 1 strain expect 2 do better using gh-flora series nutes & waste is minimal & really like not having to worry about ph. or algae or res.-temps or any of the problems associated with maintaining a reservoir i love it

As of now I am doing a recirculating dwc w/starter plugs (cheap rockwool version) but looking to switch to a deep chamber aero w/o any medium. I want to do fatman's system but with my own little variation.

I need to find fatman . . . he is no where to be found and I want to build that system of his. That pump he says he uses is listed at about 500 bucks and the other is like 175. That looks like the most expensive part of the system. Anyone know where he is at now? I heard he was on uk420 but I can navigate thru the site.
