IMO i use oil because its WAY WAY faster to make. but this is also coming from a person who has not cooked with cana butter but ive eaten it and it tastes the same as the stuff cooked with oil to me

kind of vague because there are lots of oils..

I prefer coconut oil as it has more fat than butter and its all 'healthy' fat (saturated, mono, and poly unsaturated). Its also Vegan so you can add it to cookies that everybody enjoys (btw Im not vegan). I also prefer the taste of cookies made with coconut oil over butter, buts thats a personal preference thing, but I guess this whole thing is a preference thing... yep st0Nd. coconut oil all the way.

honey oil is better.
making it is much faster than cannabutter and if you want cannabutter you just melt it in butter and your ready. it desolves like magic and you don't need to distill anything.

are you talking about honey oil made from butane? If so I would be worried about eating the oil particles that the THC bonded to. It might work, and might be great for pain, but for treating serious illnesses you can't have any foreign molecules that might have adverse affects with other medications.
An extraction like Rick Simpson does (instructions here) I would trust to put into food. A simple butane pressure extraction I don't trust.

Using a double boiler or crockpot with some coconut oil is way easier than Simpson's method, and safer, more natural, and better tasting than adding butane residues to your food.

Butane extraction works well for me.
Butane evaporates really quick in the air leaving only trace emounts of water, that if let sit evaporate as well.
Inhaling butane when you fill a lighter should be much, much more harmfull.

I use my vaporizer to get hash oil . . . . it's redish/orange looks like honey, beautiful stuff. just trying to figure out what ratio of honey oil to butter I should do . . . guess ima search around a bit longer before I go off and try myself.

think about it this way; the more honey oil you add - the less butter you have to use.

I got a chocolate fudge recipe which calls for a spoon of butter for roughly a pound of fudge so I add a LOT of weed into the butter to make it strong enough.
If your making cookies that recall for 2 cups of butter you might wanna add less.

psh that doesn't help me at all. . . . I wanted to find the science on how many molecules butter-fat can bond to . . . .

since THC is a big molecule, I'd say it could possibly be as small as 1:1, or as large as 4:1 . . . .

either way, I can't find this information out there so I"m probably gonna have to try it out myself ...

I mix 1 part hash (home-made, about 75% active ingredients) to 10-15 parts butter. Thats extremely potent butter.

The science is as follow:
Calculate how much grams (or ounces or whatever you count) is a finished serving. I use a digital scale to measure my fudge to make sure I know whats the dose.
Realize how much percent of the product is butter.
Now you should know how much butter is per serving.
From here just decide how potent you want the edibles to be. I like about 0.2 grams honey oil per serving.

In my fudge I put 30grams per serving.
In my ~500grams of fudge batter there's 35grams butter.
I added about 4.5 grams of hash to 50 grams of butter. Thats about the equivalent to 3.4 grams honey oil. So 0.068gram honey oil equivelent per gram of butter.
The butter is 7% of the fudge. so in the fudge theres 0.00476% active ingredients.
In a 30 grams serving there's 0.14 grams active ingredients per cup of fudge.

Now do the math with you'r own numbers.

I like those numbers.....

I thought butter could hold a lot more than that, but those numbers seem much more reasonable . . . . wish there was some very refined science for this shit, it seems like it's just a bunch of trial and error until we reach the recipe we like (as it seems you have.) so I guess I'll go with this for now, but I really feel like more research needs to be done.

like I want to know the molecular structure of the fat in the butter, and how the cannabinoids bond to it, and how many places they can bond to establish the ratio we can possibly use . . . .

but yeah, +rep for the numbers man.

I also want to expirement with cannabutter pills . . .. . I just wonder if the butter can be made potent enough to get me high with one pill.

and I also wonder how much hash oil can truly be absorbed into butter . . . .gram for gram.

There is no actual science to help you.
The time you cook the butter, the time you cook the dish, the type of butter, the emount of fat in the total dish - all of thoes are variables that vary with the recipe.

The question is how much active components you want to digest, that mainly a matter of body fat percentage and THC tollerance.

Lots of variables.

I advice you to make very potent SMALL chocolate chip cookies. The common recipe calls for a lot of butter so you can use a lot of honey oil. You can easly make them small.
Then experiment with the dosage. Try a cookie. After 30-60 minutes try another.
After that you should know better what is good for you.

If you have honey oil why not putting THAT in the pill? You can add butter to that if you want, but why? Isn't the point keeping it as compact as possible?

I don't know about how much honey oil you can absorb in butter, but I guess around 20% of the butter can be honey oil. Anyhow, that is EXTREMELY potent.
With hash you can add much less as the plant particles bulk up at a certain point.

you cant absorb the oil directly orally; it has to be bonded to a fat(like that of butter.)

I know it can be figured out chemically, if someone knew enough chemistry they could probably tell me, hell if I knew enough chemistry I could figure it out.

I want to experiment with my amounts in pills. but I have to mix it with butter first otherwise it's essentially wasting it, so pretty much I just need to figure out how much butter can absorb, through either chemical calculation, or experimentation.

I've read everywhere that you have to bond it to a fat otherwise it wont work.

if you can find some research showing that it can be absorbed directly I'll think otherwise, but so far I've been looking around and I haven't found anything like that. I don't believe it's all based around decarboxylization . . . I have a feeling the cannabinoids bonding to the fat has a much larger purpose in our absorption of it.

I don't say it doesn't have to be bonded to fat, I say that our body fat is what matters.
Whats the difference between butter fat and body fat for that instance?

Try it and tell us if it works :D I can't stand the taste.

I'm pretty reluctant to try it without bonding it to butter first . . . . for some reason I just believe it wont work unless it's bonded to a fat to make it easier for the system to process . . .
