Chris' Hash Making Guide!

** Ok, I had never made Hash before.. and I did plenty of searching online for a quick, easy, and FREE way of making it, and I had a REALLY hard time finding a way to do it. Every method I found, involved some kind of expensive "Bubble Hash Bags", or some kind of fancy equipment. So I came up with my own way, that is free, and uses basic household items. I am not saying that nobody else has came up with this idea, or anything like that.. But I did not copy someone's idea, and call it my own.**

So here you go, here's a quick and simple way of making hash for free. **If anyone has ANY questions.. or ideas of a way to make this better, please, feel feel to make a post with any suggestion, and I will go back and edit this to make it better, or easier to understand. I am hoping that enough people will read and like this, and it will become a "Sticky Thread". Ok guys.... Enjoy!

1) Get your trimmings in a bag, and put them in the freezer for about 1/2 hour. Your trimmings should already be dry as well. As soon as you trim your plant.. put all the trimmings you are going to use somewhere and leave the cover of and let them dry.

2) Get all your supplies out and ready. *You will be using ice during this process, so be sure you have everything ready to go when you take out your ice, so it does not melt*

Supplies Needed - *Anything shown in the picture, but NOT listed above did not end up being used. For example: White Nylon that is covering the other pan*

  • Trimmings ( I used 14 grams of trim, and you can see at the end how much hash I ended up with)

  • Ice (Amount depends on how much trim you have. I would say 1 tray of ice per every 1/2 ounce (14 grams) of trim)

  • 2 Pans or Bowls (Again, size depends on how much trim you have. You want to make sure both containers are big enough to hold all your trim and water, and have enough room left so that while your mixing, it doesn't spill over)

  • Strainer (Not shown in this pic. You want a regular spaghetti strainer)

  • Ladle (Used to scoop out water and pour it through the coffee filters)

  • Coffee Filter - Metal/Re-Usable *Optional* (This is used the filter the liquid after you pour it through the spaghetti strainer. If you do not have one of these it is OK. Just use a paper filter instead)

  • Coffee Filter - Paper (This will be the last thing you pour the liquid through. This is where, once all the water have been poured through, your hash will end up)

  • Electric Mixer *Optional* (This will be used to (that's right...) Mix the trim when you 1st pour the ice-water into the trim/trim into the ice-water)

  • Wooden Spoon or Whisk *If you do not have Electric Mixer* (This will be used to mix if you do not have an Electric Mixer)

3) Pour your trim into a container, and add your ice, and enough water to turn it into a "soup" like mixture. You want a good amount of water, but not TOO much because remember, after you mix and let it set, you will be using a ladle to pour the liquid through a paper coffee filter. The more liquid you have, the longer it will take.

4) With your hands, (you may use gloves if you would like) *The water will be VERY cold!* mix up the trim and ice-water enough so that none of the trim is still dry.

5) Now, with your Electric Mixer, or Wire Whisk/Spoon, mix it up for about 10-15 minutes. (mixture may bubble a little bit, this is normal, Do Not panic) Take a break if your hand gets tired. *Be careful of the ice cubes if using an Electric Mixer*

6) You will now be left and a swampy looking mixture. Let the mixture set for about 30-40 minutes. If the room/area you are doing this in is very hot, you may want to add a little more ice to the mixture, because you don't want the mixture to get warm.

7) Now, you want to get your other pan/bowl/container, and place the Spaghetti Strainer over it.

8) Next, you are going to want to use your ladle, and start scooping out the mixture from the container it is in, and pour it into the Spaghetti Strainer which is over the 2nd container. When you pour it through the strainer, the soggy leaves that did not make it through should be squeezed over the strainer. * Do NOT throw out the leaves after you are done squeezing them. Put them aside somewhere safe. I will post another Guide on how to "Re-Use" these leaves to get more Hash from them. I did this after I finished making my 1st batch, and got almost the same amount of hash the 2nd time I did it**

Do this until all the mixture is into the 2nd container. When you remove the strainer, you should be left with a yellowish/greenish liquid, that may have small pieces of leaves still floating around.

9) Now you are going to want to grab your Ladle again, and repeat the process, only this time, you will be pouring the liquid through the Re-Usable/Metal Coffee Filter. *If you do not have a re-usable coffee filter then skip this step* This will take a little bit longer than with the Spaghetti Strainer. Remember when I said not to use too much water? This is when it will pay off if you listened.

10) Ok. Now this is the Final Step. You will have to repeat this process, one last time. Only this time, you will be placing a paper coffee filter into the re-usable coffee filter (or if you do not have a re-usable coffee filter, you will just have to hold the paper coffee filter by hand). This process will take even longer than the last. Once you start getting down to the last scoops of water, you should be able to see small sediments settling at the bottom of your container. Yup, that is your hash!

You can watch, as your last scoop of water slowly drains through the coffee filter, and see your hash starting to form at the bottom.

11) After the last of the water has drained, you will see your hash at the bottom. You will want to *gently* squeeze any excess moisture out. If you have another paper coffee filter laying around, you should place the wet filter into a dry one. This will help it dry out faster, and catch any of your hash that may fall out if your wet coffee filter is falling apart.

** There ya go. There is your very own hash. And you did not have to go out and spend all kinds of money on expensive "Hash Making" bags. You got to make it with common household items.**

Here is the hash now, after I finished rolling it into a ball and leaving it in a baggie. For some reason it turned back, instead of staying gold? I will be sampling it tonight, during the New South Park Episode. I will let you all know how it is. =)

wow.. a few O's?? yeaa i only had 14 grams.. and i got a decent amount from mine.. i can only imagin how much you will get! deff post some pics up! I'd LOVE to see! just go easy on the water.... lol. i used wayy to much on mine. just remember teh more water u use.. the more water your gonna have to filter through the coffee filter. Im gonna post another "quick" guide to later on today or 2morrow as well.. and show u how to re-use the trim you have already used with this method.. i got quite a bit the 2nd time around.. if u end up doing it tonight tho.. basically.. all i did was take the trim i had already used to make teh hash.. and put it in an empty PeanuButter jar (any jar with a tight lid will work) with lots of ice.. and water.. adn shook it up for about 10 minutes.. put the jar in the fridge for 1/2 hour.. the did the same thing i dod with the 1st mixture.. just put it through the spaghetti strainer.. then the permanent coffee filter.. adn then the paper filter.. got almost just as much hash as i did the 1st time.. i guess even after u mix it all up.. thres still a good amount of crystals still stuck on the leaves that you cant get the 1st time around....

deff let me know how it turns out!! by the way.. i LOVE your avatar.. lmfao.

This method works pretty damn well. I did it this way for a long time before I finally bought bubble bags. I used cheesecloth between the strainer step and the first paper filter. It got out a lot of fine leaf particles. I had to buy the bags because I was getting way too much trim to run small batches. Now I can process 4 to 6 ounces at a time. My arm is starting to get strong from all the mixing in that 5 gallon bucket. I like the bags because I get separate grades of hash from powdery to downright gummy. On a budget though, you cant beat the method shown here. Good job man!

Note: Save and dry the trimmings and you can make oil out of it. The ice water just gets the resin and stuff off the surface of the plant material. The oil is still in there.

no problem guys. =) and Thanks for the Rep!! =) I just remember a few days ago.. I wanted to find a quick and easy.. and of course FREE way to make hash with my trimmings... and I had such a hard time finding anything... I thought for sure there would be at least a couple threads on it... but I guess not... but that just gave me a chance to make one. =)

and yeaa, I bet you would get a nice amount if you were to use a couple Z's of some commerc.

The trimmings i used were from my White Widow plant.. which was obviously COVERED with crystals. =) I only vegged her for 3 weeks.. and flowered her for 8 weeks.. and pulled 3.15 ounces DRY from her! only using CFL's too. That journal is in my sig if any1's interested in it.

Cant wait to try some of it tonight!! Hopefully I dont just smoke it and knock the fuck out.. lol. and end up missing South Park. lmao. That'd be my luck.

yeaaa, If I had the money, I'd deff like to buy the bags.. but im broke as shit right now.. sooo no bags for me. I'd like to eventually get some tho. But even still.. I usually only grow 1-3 plants at a time... soo idk if I would need those big bags..?

And thanks.. I did not know you could use the trimming to make oil still! that sucks.. I think I threw mine out. =/ Next time.. I would like to make some oil.. I thought you could only make 1 or the other.. and I went with the hash.. its good to know I can make both. =)

true true.. you deff dont wanna turn that shit into some like... Cream of Wheat mixture.. lol. That'd be pretty gross... lol.

And yereaa, I had my trimmings sit out for like 3 or 4 days.. they were nice and crispy! Then I remembered you were supposed to stick them in the freezer..

I like to use the oil for cooking. Gives those pot brownies a little extra kick. I only use GRAIN ALCOHOL to make oil for cooking. Everclear is best, but the strongest vodka you can find will work, just not as well. 151 rum has too much sugar in it and will make the oil burn and taste funky. 91 or 99% Isopropal is ok to use if you only intend to smoke it.

Thanks Night Train. =) yeaa, i cant wait to see how it turns out man. like I said in the guide.. make sure NOT to throw out your trimmings.. just put them asode.. then find a PB Jar (a clean one. lol) or any jar like that.. put the trimmings in there.. put in alotta ice.. and some cold water.... smoke 1/2 a doobie.. then shake the shit out of it! (with the cover on... lol) for about 10-15 min. take breaks if you need to.. it doesnt have to be exact either.. u can shake it for a few.. then wait.. then shake it again.. etc..

Then just repeat the straining process.. 1st the spaghettin strainer.. then the re-usable coffee filter.. then the paper filter... I cant GAURENTEE you that you will end up getting more... but I feel like the chances are pretty good!
