Federal Welfare States Red vs. Blue

Well, this should piss people off.

You know those states that champion states rights? Those states who's citizen's hate the federal government and the taxes they impose on people?

These states are most likely red states. In which their citizens bash progressive states for their spending. Guess what the liberal states are spending their money on- THE RED STATES!

The state of Oklahoma which has some of the most anti marijuana laws and is the most conservative voting state doesn't pay federal taxes! Matter of fact, like the welfare recipients they hate, get $1.53 for every dollar they spend in federal taxes!
Therefor, the money given to them by mostly progressive states is used in some degree to support their infrastructure. Alabama get's even more money.

Sarah Palin's mental picture of Alaska has a rough we're not America, down with the fed, bearded mountain man exterior. When in reality they're more like an overfed welfare mom with another kid on the way.

These are states that hate the titties but suck the most off the nipple's.

What they receive for every dollar sent to the fed:

North Dakota ($2.03)
Mississippi ($1.84)
Alaska ($1.82)
West Virginia ($1.74)
Montana ($1.64)
Alabama ($1.61)
South Dakota ($1.59)
Arkansas ($1.53)

The states that nurture the spoiled babies.

New Jersey ($0.62)
Connecticut ($0.64)
Illinois ($0.77)
Minnesota ($0.77)
Massachusetts ($0.79)
California ($0.81)
New York ($0.81)
Wisconsin ($0.82)
Colorado ($0.79)
Michigan ($0.82)
Washington ($0.88)

What really pisses me off, all ridiculous partisan political banter aside, is that many of the states that have strict marijuana laws are the same one's that use federal money from people in more marijuana friendly states to support their authoritarian anti mj policies all the while screaming "States rights!"

it could be construed that these reasons are why they are so conservative. If there states are recieving alot of federal funding, or if they have a large welfare problem in the state (like alabama does) than the voters may resent these poor ppl and thats why they are more pronounced about lowering federal aids. Cuz the fed has aids too. Just like jared has aids. Im sorry i just felt like responding. Im sure none of it makes sense. Im pretty stoned :bigjoint:
Edit WHOOOO GA likes to stay in the middle we are just broke enough not to have to help and not so broke that we need a ton of help

I agree. Forced redistribution of wealth is lousy. Downsize government, excellent point.

The author surely has it right. I live in one of those high federal dollar states, and I know the federal funding a state gets is tied in with hard nose anti social/drug police policies. Our police officers will be out in force at the end of each quarter to get as many arrest as possible to qualify for better federal funding. Certainly its bs, but when you go right to the belly of the beast and tell him what is true, The beast will ignore you or act like your crazy every time, unless, he has something to profit from it.

How current are those numbers? I tried looking around for the same thing & the most recent I could find was at least 3 years old.
Just curious.

Your opinion does not jive with things in AK - Smoking in your home is legal here and yet the numbers at the beginning of this thread contradict your policing policy theory.
Not bitching you understand, just my observation.
