White hairy mold and tiny white bugs.

Checked on plants just now and there is a small amount of white fluffy mold growing on the top of the soil. I picked a chunk of soil up with this mold on and noticed a tiny white insect moving around, what should I do, is it a problem? I'm going to remove the top layer of soil until there's no more mold but will there be any future problems? Close to harvesting so really hope this won't ruin anything.

Also I forgot to mention, it's happening because I put chopped banana peel on the soil because I read this can increase potassium which I figured would help budding, so I suppose it's the banana peel rotting, isn't this a good thing? No idea where the small white insects came from though.

take out the mold as carfuly as you can once the spores get around it will spread easy. i would let the soil try out 100% to kill the bugs but just enough not to stress the plants out. what kind of soil is it and how far into your grow are you? if you just started change as much soil as you can will new if not try doing the top layer thing you mentioned good luck dude

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, fungus brings fungus gnats witch eat your roots! get some plant food for added nutes and read up more about things. and before you try something ask about it on here saves you alot of time. DAMN banana peals that sucks:spew:
shoot the messenger if anything the peals go into compost not right into the plant.

I'm 11 weeks from seed, I've removed the top layer of soil and won't water for some time, Humidity in the grow room is low and it only appeared today.

Banana's carry fruit flies and other bugs in the ends of them as they usually come from bug infested tropic areas. I would keep them away from your plants all together. Try using some proper nutrients on them instead of things out of the cupboard. Plants go ape shit when you give them the right stuff.

After having a look on the internet I think I also have a Sciarid fly problem or more to the point it's larvae in my soil. Any suggestions on removing this pest?
