ok where to start? i guess ill list my equipment. 2x4 flood table with 2 air stones, lumatek 600 with mh/hps bulbs. bluelab guardian trimeter, air cooled hood and much more! ive killed 20 sweettooth seedlings and 10 ak 48s. i was really bummed when i killed the first 20 st seedlings so after more research i contitioned the rockwool by rinsing it for a looong time then soking it in ph'ed water over night. i germed seeds in paper towel with 100% sucess then put them into the cubes then into a dome with a seedling mat. im thinking maybe i transfered them into my system to quick? the roots were just starting to show threw the bottom. but when i got home from work they all fell over:( help me RIU!!!!!

hi boosted how do you mean "all fell over"? did you have them in an incubator? how big are they coz a few roots isn't big and they should have stayed pretty much in the wool without too much harm i would imagine. anyhows, could you give some more info?

i was reading and saw that u keep the rockwool just above the flood line so should i top feed till the roots are long enough?

thx for the response mylar. so if i get a drip do i drip away from the rockwool and just next to it in the hydroton?

kk busted ... help me to help you. i got three seeds up in rockwool, you are correct about getting the PH right. i had them in an incubator do you have them in an incubator? if so, just drip a few drops on top of the rockwool till you see a few small drips come out of the bottom of the rockwool ... job done for a few hours. do this at least three times a day, but if you are like me you'll have your nose pressed up against the glass most of the day anyhows. i would gently touch the rockwool and if it felt slightly dry and there were no drips of water around the bottom of the rockwool i would just give them a few drips till it came out the bottom.

also use next to no nutes in the water, or about quarter strength at most. they don't need it till they have a few roots out the bottom. they can be placed in the hydro almost as soon as they germinate but i'd advise you to wait so you can easily see how well the roots are growing. take your time.

when you do put them in the hydro (DWC) i had the water level just so the roots could reach it. take it slow, hold back on the nutes it's so easy to overfeed them and they really do suffer (nasty crispy brown leaves and shit). for instance, use less than the recommended dose you can easily add more if they need it. hope this helps ... enjoy

i do have a incubator and a seedling mat. i did wait till roots were showing to put them into my ebb and flow system but am now thinking it wasnt a good idea because the roots were not touching the flood line because u dont want to soak the rockwool correct? thats why mylar was saying get a drip system for the babies till the roots get longer?

i have 10 more ak 48s and 10 freebies left from nirvana but im waiting for the experts to help before i attempt number 3

yeah i see the thinking, and you work right? so you wont be there if they get dry.

soaking the rockwool isn't a no no if they can alternate and then dry out, but being so young 15 minutes of flood could be too much for them. i would be tempted to position the rockwool so only the lower fifth was in flood and see whether the rest of the rockwool saturates or is only moist. if it is only moist, you could maybe try this till you get the drip rigged up.

the only nutes used were AN jumpstart. so lets say im starting my grow. i put seeds into paper towel on my heat mat till they germinate. till then ill get my rockwool ready by flushing it with alot of water then soak it over night in 5.5 phed water? am i correct so far? the shake access water from the cubes. them take my germed seeds an place them into the cubes in the dome with my heat mat on. so far so good?
