making hash with buds with powdery mildew

hey guys i just trimmed my buds up and now im drying them. one plant had powdery mildew so im keeping it in the garage whereas the rest of the normal bud goes in the tent. but the thing is that the garage gets like 40 degrees at night so thats way too cold to dry them, can i grind up the buds with powdery mildew that way they dry faster, so i can make the hash out of it and not have to waste that bud. IDK if this is really making sense its kind of hard for me to explain.

It would be easiest if i could put the powdery mildew buds in the same tent as the rest so they all dry normally but i dont know if the mildew will spread to the normal buds.

keep em far away from the others if you do decide to keep them, i'd probally just say fuck it and give it a shot depending on the mildew severity. how much bud do you have w/it? have any pics?

first four is the mildew buds, the rest are the normal buds.

I wasnt aware mildew could survive fire.......
only cause you sound all sarcastic...

it has less to do with the mildew "surviving a fire" than it does with toxins that things off gas in the burning of it.

a tire won't survive a fire either.. you want that shit in your lungs? smoking mildew isn't a good idea.. doesn't mean it isn't and can't be done.

I know for a FACT you can make bubble hash with moldy bud. The straining process strains out the mold. The guy who invented bubble bags says in his video that he does it all the time. I did it and the hash is great.

But you definitely should not smoke straight buds that have mold on them - that's fungus and you don't want fungus in your lungs.

I would think that other hash making methods would work too...as long as it's relying on straining through a screen at some point. Also...do not dry the moldy buds anywhere near the others and be very careful about carrying spores into the tent on your hands, hair, clothes etc.

Just my 2 cents.

Good Luck

Lots of people make bubble hash and other types of hash out of mildewy bud just fine. Just make sure to clean you're hash making material real well after you're done. Also, I'd store the moldy hash in the fridge/freezer to eliminate mold growth. Molds and fungi hate the cold.

Good Point Ronjohn - preventing the spread is all about eliminating cross contamination.

hey rucha wat about just grinding the buds up with a keef catcher and me just using the keif and throwing the ground up buds away. would the keef still be good? cus i just bought a pollen press today that i want to use the keef for. i dont have bubble bags so i cant use the ground up bud for that ill prolly just throw it away after getting the keef out of it. will the screen block the spores from going thru in a grinder

Remeber that mold has spores that will come loose. They are smaller than the glans of the plant. No matter what you do you will get some spores. BHO is your safest best, and even with that you will have a little.

BHO should be the safest if you do not want to throw them away.

so does anyone here actually know someone who got sick and had health problems from smoking bud w/ a lil mildew? you dont want burned plant material going in your lungs but we do it anyway......

i have come to the conclusion that i will throw the buds away. i dont want to cook with them the only other things i considered wat buying bubble bags and making bubble hash, or today i bought a pollen press and i was going to grind them and press the kief in the pollen presser but even then i would still be smoking the spores. so im just going to throw the bud away. :( my poor afghan kush

Yes, but it is all about the load.

You can breath in 5 Anthrax spores no problem. Breath in more than 50 - 75 and they will overwelm your bodies response and you are screwed.

darkdestruction, this is for you, and everyone else.... not only does it prove that mold can be a major issue, but it is the ONLY death i have ever found that can be correctly attributed to marijuana use..... the summary is below, with the full article linked.... (keep in mind that this guy had a comprimised immune system, but it would still likely give a normal person a nice lil resp. infection ;) ) Enjoy!! :)

A 34-year-old man presented with pulmonary aspergillosis
on the 75th day after marrow transplant for chronic
myelogenous leukemia. The patient had smoked marijuana
heavily for several weeks prior to admission. Cultures of
the marijuana revealed Aspergillus fumigatus with morphology
and growth characteristics identical to the organism
grown from open lung biopsy specimen. Despite aggressive
antifungal therapy, the patient died with disseminated
disease. Physicians should be aware of this potentially lethal
complication of marijuana use in compromised hosts.
