Subcool's Super Soil

In regards to the potassium concerns, the Roots soil has greensand, and this mix is just basically kicked up Roots. Most of the stuff you add is already in there. It has bat guano, earth worm castings, fish bone meal, feather meal (similar to blood meal, high N organic), glacial rock dust (similar to the azomite, mineral compound), humic acid. The N and P are being raised by additives but the K does not need to because you are letting the greensand sit and release for 2 months constantly increasing the supply.

I noticed you have made changes to this recipe, but never made mention of the effects that you noticed from the changes. What difference do you see using the revised mix on page 25 as opposed to the original one on page 1? I noticed it has been diluted 33% did you find it too strong? Just curious. Thanks

The changes I make always produce better meds its a constant tweaking of my recipe.

Is rock rock phosphate something you are currently using? Is it still an ingredient for the Super Soil?

Any recent recipe revisions since page 25?

8 large bags of a high-quality organic potting soil with coco fiber and mycorrhizae (i.e., your base soil)
25 to 50 lbs of organic worm castings
5 lbs steamed bone meal
5 lbs Bloom bat guano
5 lbs blood meal
¾ cup Epson salts
½ cup sweet lime (dolomite)
½ cup azomite (trace elements)
2 tbsp powdered humic acid

Your not reading the text I feel I do not fill a pot up with super soil ever each strain requires a different amount of SS in the bottom of the container.
I get about 2 full loads from a batch meaning 24 plants

okay -about 52 days into flowering with subs soil - has worked beautifully! other than water - I've only used a tea from my worm poop-
my question is - do I flush with this super soil?

I have a couple OG's that are in 7 gal pots and I vegged them longer than I should have and they appear to be root bound. Can I transplant them into a larger pot directly into your super soil mix?

Like: How much dirt do you remove from the top? How do you tell if that plant needs to be topdressed? And any other info that is pertinent.

I'm a bit confused on what pot sizes you use. I've heard you refer to either #10 or 7 gallon pots. I looked around a bit and saw someone with #10 pots that actually held 8.5 gallons - are these the pots you use? The same site lists their #7 pots as holding 6.5 gallons.

Incidentally, I already bought some #7 pots, along with some 7 gallon smartpots. I took some measurements and calculated the actual volumes to be 7.12 gallons and 7.02 gallons, respectively.

Youve certainly put much more thought into it than I have to be honest.
On the bottom they say #10 and i guesstimated they held about 7 gallons I have never actually measured.

Same with top Dressing at day 30 I top off the pots with super soil adding about 2-3"

Found the #10 pots and they're similar to the #7's except they're about 2" in diameter wider and have a more substantial lip. I picked up 6 of them for $4.95 each at a local hydro shop.

Does anyone know a plastics manufacturer? We should go in on a run of square, white, 8 gallon pots - seems like there's a market for such a contraption. Round pots are a waste of floor space.

New question - is there a good resource, other than personal experience, for predicting a strain's nutrient requirements? I'm dealing with a lot of unfamiliar strains and I'm not sure how much supersoil to use.

Last question: In an earlier post you said: "dont forget to add back cal/mag as the RO will remove all from your water".

What should one use to replace the cal/mag?

I've been using Roots soil for my 1 gallon pots and what I've noticed is that everyone is happier when I drop the RO H2O pH down to 6-6.5, resulting in run-off of 7. I was seeing much unhappiness when using 7 pH H2O(resulting in even higher runoff) - burning and curling.

Have you noticed this before? I wonder if I just got a bad batch?

i have read where you said topdressing always leads to better results but also where you have said you to topdress nute heavy strains so not sure. thanks sub!

Hey sub! Love this thread..i been follwing for sometime. My question to you is knowing what u know, do u believe dj shorts stains will do well with this organic super soil? particularly blueberry? Ive been trying to perfect this strain as it is hard lol. Any insight?

I am not a fan of Blueberry but quite the follower of DJ.
Out of 2000 or so blueberry samples I have tasted its rare they have a real blueberry taste as well there subject to worled leaves mutations and all sorts of problems from the genetic mutation using Colchine.
BB is a of a picky eater so I am not sure it would thrive that well in SS but with a light ratio it would do fine.
