Nirvana Bubblicious Grow Journal (COMMENTS WELCOME)

So a number of you gave me advice a few weeks ago, and I've started my grow. It's for personal use, so I'm not worried about ridiculous amounts of yield. Just some quality herb to last me for awhile.

Now for the setup. I had already purchased a t12 lighting system before I learned a little more and realized that a t5 or t12 would be better, so I am now stuck with it.

Anyhow, I'm working off of six 4' fluorescent t12 bulbs. 40 watts and 3200 lumens each. Half cool white, half daylight.

I germinated my seeds using the paper towel method and a portable room heater, keeping the temperature about 80 degrees Farenheight and around 70 at night. Left them in the dark for a day and they had all cracked, but I wanted a little more taproot so I left them in another day. All had substantial roots when I put them into my soil.

I've started with ten 6" diameter pots, filled with MiracleGro potting soil. I realize this is not the best to use, but I am on a budget and this is what I am using. I watered each pot thoroughly, to the point where the water drained out of the bottom. After waiting a few minutes to ensure the soil was draining, I made a 1/2" indentation in the center of each pot and dropped the seeds in. Taproot up, taproot down, I don't care. I figured nature would take it's course. That was yesterday.

I turned the lights on, 2 inches above the soil, utilizing a 24 hour light cycle, closed the door, and waited. This was yesterday. To my amazement, less than 24 hours later, my first seedling sprouted through the surface, already 1/4" tall!

The room temperature seems to be perfect without any ventilation. I open the door every now and then to ensure fresh air, but it's slightly humid and the temperature seems like it's stabilizing in the upper 70's.

I'm going to veg them for a bit longer then usual because I have the space and time to do so -probably between 1 month and 2 months (with careful pruning) - while putting them under a 400w mh light for the last half of the vegeatitive cycle. Then they sit under the hps for the flowering :)

Some random information:

- The enclosure is approximately 4'x2'x6'. This means 8 square feet. To start, this means 30 watts and 2400 lumens per square foot. (A little low). Though this will change when I switch over to mh. I feel that fluorescent is better to start with, to deter stretching of the plant.

- I'm using filtered tap water that I let sit open for a few days to ensure any chlorine evaporates, watering only when the top soil becomes noticably dry.

- I will start supplementing nutrients after the third week or so, 1/8 the recommended amount to start.

Pictures to come soon! I'm a little weary of the whole idea, but I haven't found any great bubblicious logs on here and I feel it's time to show the potential. So far I am very happy.

:peace:

I'm always on the look out for a killer Bub grow. Good job starting them all at the same time. Hope you have better luck with MG than I did. :peace:

I just ordered 10 Bubb and 10 AK-48 seeds from Nirvana... I'll deff be watching this one. Happy Growing! =]

It's Day 5 for the seedlings and I couldn't be more excited! Steadily, they're growing. I waited until the soil was completely dry and, finally, gave them a substantial watering last night. Seems like they're responding well; it looks like the plants have had a growth spurt in the last 12 hours!

I readjusted the lighting so that there are two 4' fluorescents (Cool White and Daylight) directly above each plant, and set up an additional tube hovering a few inches higher, between the two, ensuring that light reaches any area I might have overlooked.

Pictures below. Comments welcome!

Hey, I'm about a week into flower with this strain, it's doing very well compared to the Hawaiian Kush I have next to it. Doesn't mind full doses of nutes, short plants, not a lot of stretch so far...

Damn bro.. You weren't kidding about these seeds cracking quick!!

I put them in to germ last night around 9pm using the paper towel method between 2 plates on top of another plate with a reptile heating pad on the bottom..

They already sprouted!! 0_0

Update??

Glad to hear it, man. My plants still seem to be doing alright. I'm afraid I might have one semi deformity - it's been a little messed up since seedling, and it looks as though there was some type of genetic dysfunction in the original seed. Other then that, the plants seem to be flourishing well. The leaves have grown much bigger since I moved the fluorescent lighting closer, and I'm happy with the progress.

Though ... I do have one concern. I've been using a regular water pitcher to water them and I apparently concentrated the watering too close to one of the stems last time. As a result, the plant actually fell over. I caught it quickly, gently picked it up and stood it back up. Since then it seems a little weak, as if the root structure is not quite sufficient enough. I fear this might be a problem with all of the seedlings (insufficient rooting, that is), and might pose a problem in the future. I keep a fan directly on the plants for an hour or so each day, on and off, but it looks like it might not be doing enough.

Granted, this is only Day 7, and the plants are still very young. I might be expecting too much. Does anyone have any suggestions though as to how I should strengthen the roots up? I don't really want to use any rooting hormones ... kind of hoping for an all natural remedy.

Pictures below. The first seedling is the supposed mutation.

Comments welcome, and as always, thanks for any input.

Looking good man.. I wouldnt worry too much about ur mutant plant. Not every plant is the same, so either it can come out amazing or end up failing down the line.. So we'll see what happens.

As for your rooting problem, just dont water right at the stem so much.. If you adequately water towards the edge of your pots the roots will still get the moisture. It might even help them develop their root system a lil.. Just in the idea that they'll have to go look for the water a bit.

But so far so good I would say

So, my plants are now 12 days old. I'm astonished at the rate of new growth; it seems they're stretching out both vertically and horizontally after every watering. I've been watering the plants themselves along with the soil; I think the weight of the water on the leaves is actually strengthening the shoots.

I added a small amount of soil to each pot, piling it right up to the first set of leaves. Along with the fans that I keep on about 12 hours a day, it seems that the plants are becoming a lot stronger. Anyway, all is going well and I have attached pictures of the progress!
