Let's talk about ditch weed

Ok, where i live, anytime you're out on a country road... what do you see? ditch weed... Hundreds and hundreds of plants lined up along the road... Farmers spray chemicals all the time and I've even seen planes fly over misting some sort of chemical, i'm assuming to kill weeds and more specifically MJ... The number of spots you see MJ growing on the side of the road has decreased in the last couple years due to above mentioned tactics, but there are still some locations that have gone untouched.. Prior to graduating high school, me and my friends used to "cruise" the country roads to smoke as we weren't allowed to smoke inside our parents houses..

Yetserday I was cruising down a country road (I like to smoke a bowl or doober and just drive around and look at the scenery..) that i normally don't travel and something caught my eye.. No houses on either side, so i decided to stop.. Right on the side of the road was a HUGE (and i mean huge) ditch weed plant.. It had about 15 bud sites on it and each was MASSIVE!! I inspected it for a second, noticing a few seeds but mostly just buds (hermie).. I had to bend down the top of the plant to see the main cola.. Just by guessing, i'd say it was about 8-9 feet tall!!! It had some white hairs, but it appeared most of them were an orangish-red color.. It was very sticky and had a pretty good odor to it.. I only looked for a minute and didn't pick anything as i'm always against taking something that isn't mine...

But....... It was right off the road, about 2 feet away w/ nothing else around it but grass.. Highly doubt someone planted it there as it sticks out like a sore thumb.. If they did, chances are someone else is gonna snatch it up if they see it..

Anyways... question is.... has anyone chopped down some decent ditch weed plant(s), dryed/cured, and ended up with some tolerable to smoke bud? We did this in the past when we were like 15 or 16, but we just tried to smoke it right off the plant.. lol, dumbasses... Obviously it tasted like grass and didn't get you high...

Yearly dry season has hit here and i'm almost in some desperate need of smoke until my first indoor harvest..

whatchu' think?

Very true, that's what i was thinking...

Go figure, it's raining out now... lol... dry yesterday, shoulda did it then... Anyways, would it be better to wait for the next day when it's dry to snip rather than cutting it down soaking wet and trying to dry it??

I'm thinking mold would be an issue..

First off, you have to under stand something, "ditch weed" is cannabis ruderalis, its usualy 100% ruderalis, and has VERY LOW production of THC.

cannabis ruderalis=hemp. its a simple as that.
In 2004, Hillig and Mahlberg published a chemotaxomic analysis of cannabinoid variation in their Cannabis germplasm collection. They used gas chromatography to determine cannabinoid content and to infer allele frequencies of the gene that controls CBD and THC production within the studied populations, and concluded that the patterns of cannabinoid variation support recognition of C. sativa and C. indica as separate species, but not C. ruderalis.
basicly, C.ruderalis doesn't produce enough THC or CBD to get you high. dont go and pick it, if you do....post your headache and prove my point.

you gota look at it this way, whay isn't anyone else out there picking it? because those dumb enough to smoke it allready knows what it does.......

I refer to it as wild weed myself but some refer to it as ditch weed yes, but It grows in many more places other than ditches. I had to battle a lot of wild males in my area so that they wouldn't pollinate my outdoor crop. I pulled 86 males in my area alone this year and I still got some seeds. I don't know what they look like around you but this is the wild shit around here, I took this pic back on September 2nd.
oh and btw, I have dried cured and smoked it before and it does indeed get you pretty high, it is a really heady high but it doesnt last very long. If you plan to chop it I would recommend a good cure otherwise it doesn't really taste that great. but who knows that stuff could be waayyy different than this stuff.

It's funny how people say it's not good, but want to know where you live at the same time. I'd pick it, bring it back, and then take pictures of it. I've seen the same thing in my area in the past, and I know it's not ruderalis. The answer to why nobody else it picking it, it easy. On a low traffic road, probably nobody else is actively looking for it.

Don't tell anyone where it is. They're silling for even asking.

Corbat, good info but does ruderalis produce trichs? I know thats where THC is produced in the heads of trichs. The wild stuff here gets pretty damn sugar coated. Whatever grows around here cant be 100% ruderalis, somehow its been bumped up over the decades.

people do it all the time....up and down the power line trails, in ditches. Some of it is good smoke. The whole point is that it's so obvious at times that you don't notice it. In a low traffic area, it's very easy to pull off, and it happens every year around here. Random scattered patches here and there, not quite in plain sight, but not hidden either.
