clones

Can someone walk me through this step by step? I pulled 4 clones off of my mothers a couple hours ago and it seems as if they are dead already. just went to check on them and they look lifeless. sucksssss.

1st timer by the way.

Do you have a cover over them or applied anti wilt???Humidity must be near 100% the first days after taking the cuttlings it is vital unless y6u applied anit wilt.

cut @ 45 angle. Then removed some of the outer skin at the bottom of the stem. Dipped in clonex, then put into rapid rooter and right into a dome with a cfl FOR LIGHTING.

Just mist them it is normal for them to wilt.Keep the humidity near 100% and mist 1 or 2 x's a day and they will bounce back.........believe me.......

they wilt from the stress from being cut.

I use an easy cloner now which just absolutely rocks. But before I had that I did it this way. Get some 1.5x1.5 rock wool cubes. soak the cubes in 300 ppm bloom to adjust the pH. Drain your cubes for a few hrs. Take a tip that is about 1/3 the thickness of a pencil and clip it about 3/4' below where you want the end of the cutting to be. Take a razor or scalpel and cut the stem at a sever angle at least 45 degrees. Do this with the bottom of the clipping under water to avoid trapping air in the stem. The shallower the angle of the cut the better. you want to expose the Xylem and Phloem inside the stem. This is how the plant trans relocates the nutrients to build roots. Take the clipping strait out of the water and dip it in Clonex or Olivia's cloning gel. Gently place it in the rock wool cube and place in a humidity dome. I use two tray inside each other. One with holes and one with out. I keep a solution of 300 ppm grow and 1/2 tsp of KLN rooting hormone per gallon. Dip the tray with holes and your cuttings in it for about 5 min 2 times a day. just lift the tray out and set it on top of the other one at an angle to drain. Make sure to cut a couple of vents in the top of your humidity dome as your plants do need air. when roots poke out the bottom your good to go. I can get 95%+ survival rate this way. Good luck.

rapid rooter is like a type of rock wool i guess id compare it to. it looks like a brown egg shaped rock wool that has a cake type texture. it comes with the hole for the stem premade also.

I will take this into consideration for next time but is there anything i should be doing to enhance the survival chances this time around?:wall::wall::wall:

I need to bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie so i can get some :sleep::sleep:

just mist them a few times a day. they meed that mist and high humidity while the don't have roots. I would bet even if they don't root they will kick back at least some. I made a bubble cloner and have had beter luck. But I seem to be having a temp problem the room warmed up and the roots popped over night. It was wild I was just getting ready to scrap them all.

I have had a problem cloning until recently. I am now getting 100% success after about 10 days. I am using the same basic formula as you although I don't scrape the stem. Rapid Rooters and Clonex are both great products.

The one thing I do see from the photos you posted was a lot of leaf. I have found that if I take more of the leaf tips off the clones hold up better. I leave enough to keep up the photosynthesis but not enough to let the plant sag. In general my smaller clones almost always root before my larger ones.

Keep the humidity up especially the first few days. I also have found that I get much better results using water that has been put through my reverse osmosis filter. I have used distilled h2o with good results as well. Mist often!

Also I have learned not to pull my clones when they are wilting. They almost always bounce back!

Keep trying you will get it!

thanks for the info man. They all bounced back and are doing great!! temps @90-100 and humidity @ 90-95%. Cant wait to do more!!!
