Replacing GH Nutes. Which Nutrients are better?

Hey, I just started a Hydroponic grow with a ebb and flow tray and a 14 gallon res. I am using General Hydroponics base Nutes and was not really happy with the results so far. Wanted to know the opinion on RIU's finest on what is should buy next? Want to switch to something that could increase yield and something possibly more balanced than GH.

I now some here swear by Advanced Nutrients. But is there others that can achieve similar yield without spending an arm and a leg? I would really appreciate any EDUCATED suggestions, but only if you have personally used the nute system yourself. Thank you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! :blsmoke:

GH is 1 of the best balanced systems out there i think, ever try the LUCAS formula? I use bontanicare Pure Bland Pro along with my GH and cant tell a difference. There is no magical nute to increase yeild, the plants can only take what they need. Now additives like worm casting tea, sea weed extract, benifical bacteria, fungis, those might help you out.

the nutes smp proposed may be a little much right now for you, i agree with you, personally i dont like GH base nutes, i now use pure blend pro and its amazing, if you dont want organic the best checmical nutes i have used so far is technaflora BC, first time using it i have such happy healthy plants

ok im tired of reading what people think of other nute companys. what i want is to learn what the hell yal feeding your plants. i want to know what i will feed for the 1st wk of veg, 2nd wk of veg all the way to the end, using Advanced Nutrients. what i need to get for veg and flower? big bud? bud blood? piranha? etc. well whatever works for u it should work for me, right? ok, im flooding and draining 72 plants, 6000w, sunshine mix 4 ( drain go to plants outside) using GH nutes micro and bloom ( lucas fomula) not working for me. not getting what i want. so can i get schooled on Advanced Nutes. pls pm me instead cus once u post it would get to a battle of whos better and whos worse. arguing about companies will not get u no where just like politics and religion. use what works for u and thats it. happy token peace and love

I really think you missed the point of this thread. It wasn't a "who is better" competition. I already heard alot about AN and their line of of products, hell I bet they have an additive that promise's better luck with the ladies (human females, you know Advanced Nutrients are masters of the sales pitch!).

All joking aside I myself, am not happy with General Hydroponics solutions. They are fine but I dont really think while brewing this stuff they had cannabis coultivation in mind. While well, AN kinda started that way.

Never the less, I am asking fellow RUI'ers what personally worked for them. What made them happy, and their plants happy. No sales pitch, just some friendly suggestions. So far a got a few.

If you are sick of reading other people's posts asking about other nute companies because they are tired of being suckered into buying stuff 3 times the price of perfectly fine "other company" nutes then I suggest you start YOUR own thread.

If you need help learning how to use your AN nutes this isnt the thread for it, I do suggest you posting one up along the lines of "Got my AN NUTS! WOOT! Now what do I do?" and go buck crazy there. Sorry not trying to be rude, but you just did come accross crass there. Thanks. :blsmoke:

I was leaning towards the Bontanicare line of ferts. Have you or anyone reading used their "base" nutes with good success. And yea I'm following with the lucas formula with my Flora line GH nutes. Wonder if I should rename this post to: What additives should I buy with my GH nutes? I want a carbo booster and a good root booster. I think I would do well with that added to my rouster. But like I said dont know what to get yet. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

I use city water, not RO. My water comes out the tap at 48 ppms consistently. My ph is about 7 out the tap, which I lower to 5.2 where I am seeing the most promise. Unfortunately my ph does a bit of drifting which has me chasing my ph around, using a bit of PH Up/Down. This is sometimes a daily war. Anyways I brought this up because I heard somewhere that the standard line of GH Flora nutes arent nessisarily buffered for tap water, but that their Flora Nova nutes are better for tap water. If I can use less PH Up/Down it would be better, as they could be toxic for the plants in higher doses. What does everyone think?

Having city water, my water contains chlorine which, if im not mistaken kills beneficial bacteria?

i use GH nutes also with there expert recirculating formula, i average .75 g/watt . The key for GH is KOOLBLOOM liquid and dry, use the liquid throughout flower then 2 weeks w/ the dry (its the magic LOL)

Dry the grow-micro-bloom from advanced. Its cheaper and its formulated specifically for MJ. GH has been formulated for vegitables and tomatoes and shit.

I have a Q... found this store below in my area and it looks decent but i have a few questions... http://www.wormsway.com/products.aspx?t=prod&cat=FERTH&AC=1 I would like to setup a bubbleponics (14 gal or 10gal) sys but what nuts would I need and how much? For example I see the floragro 3pack pint and qt bottles for sale but how long does that last 1,2 or even 3 grows? Are those 3 technically what I would need from veg to flower(may get some seaweed for flower). Are there prices good because I never bought befor so i dont know? Are all nuts a three part system then you get the add on ie..seaweed? I want to go in the store and semi know what's going on.... sorry if im in the wrong place not meaning to jack

I have never used any exotic supplements ever, nor have I ever seen proof that they do anything. My friend uses Banana Manna and swears that it makes his buds grow more crystals, but Ive never seen any study that proves smashed up bananas (banana manna) grow crystals on your buds. In my view, he got suckered into paying 50$ for three or four liquified smashed up bananas. I grew the same strain with far better results than he got, using just the Lucas Formula (just as many, or more, crystals). People toss this type of expensive crap into their grow then attribute the genetic characteristics of their strain to the exotic supplement. Until I see scientific proof that they actually work (and none exists), Im steering far away from exotic supplements and other snake oil.

Ive seen a video of a comparison grow using advanced nutes vs other brands. The problem with this video is that it is PRODUCED BY ADVANCED NUTRIENTS! Ive never seen a comparison grow done by a neutral party.

This winter I will be doing a comparison grow between AN and GH. Im splitting my grow into two rooms, one with 7 plants and one with 8. There is a hydro shop by my house that makes a clone of GH flora series and sells it for 15$ a gallon and it is all I have ever used. Until my comparison grow, Im sticking with the GH clone which is getting me huge yields cheaply.

I just recieved my GH flora micro ,grow & bloom first time using this products . since i use powder fertz .

I have my plant at 27 days flowering C99 F1 .
can someone give me some advice how to use this ferts ? Im a bit confused . my reservoir has 11 gallons

I've never been one to be coned by a snake oil salesmen or pitch. And while I did mention additives, I mentioned 2 that would make sense to me that would be beneficial and work, a good root booster and a carb booster.

While I understand that a plant is going to do its thing, uptake nutrients and only as much as it needs. I also know that there is always room for improvement when it comes to quality in ingredients. If that wasn't the case then there would be no point to growing organically, yet tons of users on RIU swear that their bud smokes better, sweeter and is all around tastier than bud grown on chemical ferterlizers.

As for additives, black strap molassis is natures carbo-load additive, only I am growing hydroponicly and you cant add that stuff to your res, yet I have seen some improvements when using the stuff correctly in soil.

You cant tell me that an nute deriving their phospherous from a safe, naturally balanced source isn't going to be better than one derived from some chemical reaction in a lab.

I'm not trying to "diss" GH users or GH nutes, either I got a shitty batch of nutes or this stuff isnt great for Cannabis. :leaf:

I love my girls and I want to give them the best I can afford so long as they can benefit from it, if it makes not difference then I dont want to spend the time and money.

I like your idea of simutanious side by side grows comparing nutes, I plan to do the same when I have the space, which isnt now. But when you do, pm me and good luck with it, would love to follow along and see what comes from it.

Anyone knows a good cheap (and safe for plants) carb? Would love to get some feedback from my rant. Thanks everyone will be rep+ soon!

Read the instructions on the back, I would use about one tsp each per gallon (11 tsps for 11 gallon res) at first (or at 600 ppms) for the age of your plants, and up it accordingly every res change until you reach 1200 ppms which I like keeping mine at when they are at full blown flowering. Also if you are using powders, what I do is pour the powder into a jar and put some water in and shake it until its desolved before adding the mixture to the res, this helps it being water soluble and reduces chunks of the stuff to collect at the bottom of the res. And this is VERY IMPORTANT! Add your Flora Micro into your res FIRST, then your Gro (if you are still using grow) then your Bloom. If you screw the order up you can lock up your nutes and plants with nute lockup. If in doubt read the instructions until you understand them, there is a reason they print them in the back. Good luck.

This nute recipe is called the lucas formula. It is freakin awesome for use with GH nutes.

If you follow this schedule you cant go wrong.
