rapid rooter

I picked up some rockwool and some of these starter plugs called rapid rooter at my hydro store last week. The guy at the store had tomatoes germinating in some of the plugs inside a humidity station that were looking really robust and had really nice root systems. I thought i would try it out with some bagseed. I put the seed in the hole, the plugs already came moist enough, put the humidity lid on top of the tray, sat it in darkness for 2-3 days, and up they sprouted. But I did something wrong, as you can tell by the pictures the stems grew way too long. Just wondering if anyone has ever used this and any help as to what I should do?

They stretched out because they were sitting in darkness for a few days. Plant them in soil up to the cotyledons and you should be good

I didnt like them intitially but have gotten to like them. I still prefer rockwool but the plugs do great and are best fro soil growing for sure. As stated they stretched as they didnt have light. Since you had these and put sides in them they didnt have to be in the dark like say a seed in a paper towel. Next time plop the seed in pinch the hole close put in a dome tray and put a florescent shop light right on top and the day they pop out remove the dome lid and get the light right down almost on top.Good grows

I was told that these plugs would fit directly into the rockwool and that was my plan. But you guys are saying soil??

They will fit into rockwool cubes. i have a bunch in rockwool cubes now I just prefer rockwool in to rockwool as it fits tighter and the ph is the same and these can ciontract a bit if they do get to dry and squeeze the bottom of the stalk. in soil they are awesome just bury it and go. But they will work fine in rockwool cubes too just i prefer rockwool into rockwool
