Hi all... i have completed my first grow and it turned out ok. I do have a question though. Can i reuse soil that was already used for a short period of time until the plant i was growing turned out to be male/hermie, then i took the plant out and have a great looking bucket of soil. Can the "spores" "infect" any other plant grown in the soil? I am just too lazy and money tight to go buy more soil? can i reuse?

For the most part you shouldn't have any problems, even less if there weren't too many roots in it.
If you really feel like going "all out" you could steam it for a half hour to kill any possible bad stuff, but if you didn't have those problems, it might not be an issue.
After you use soil for a whole grow cycle, you can always stick it in a big plastic bag and just leave it outside in the sun and let the roots in side compost for a year, and if it's in the sun, everything will get a bit steamed in a plastic bag, too.
Some people will say you have to toss the soil after one use, but even when people have problems with their outdoor garden, you don't hear about them chucking their dirt.

AODHAN911i wouldnt even try to reuse soil. its super cheap to make or buy new soil, so there is no point. if you cannot afford it than yea go ahead. but there could be bugs, fungi and other things living in the soil. also there could be salt build up which will screw with your nutrient uptake. so i would say no, dont reuse it. good luck!

I have reused soil in indoor grows for years. I flush the soil near the end of the flowering cycle anyway. I have a large garbage container that I use for this. I just rotate the soil in the container until it has completely dried out. I used Sunshine Mix #1 and perlite 50/50 and it is not cheap. I am now growing in perlite and vermiculite 75/25 using hempy buckets and had to haul the old soil out to my outdoor garden. The tomatoes loved it.

this is a great ? cidly, as i have been wondering the same thing.. i have to pots full of soil that i pulled two males out of and wasn't sure if i should just dump it and start over with fresh, or if it was safe to use again.. after reading everyone's reply, it looks like it is cool to use over again.. i've been using ff's ocean forest, and didn't want to dump it unless that was my only option..

Well the answer is, if you have been using organic food you certainly can reuse it.
If you have been using chemical foods you need to flush real good, I mean real good. It's kind of like shaking the lumps of a diaper and putting it back on.

organics are real good used over put some compost tea in it and leave it outside a month or two
