Yeah, but dude unless you're growing like 10 to 32482043 plants they wont trip. No guarantee but its unlikely. But it may be different where you live. Where I am[ Modesto, Merced, turlock] The cops are focus on the big time dealers, and idiotic meth heads lol

Yes. Go to the DIY section and you can find good ways to make effective filters.

well where i live cops have nothing better to do but harrass people over little things so i jsut want to make sure running like say 2 1000w no higher then that would like attract attention from their infrared radars

I think 2 1000 watters running at night may raise the eye brow. . . If you have room you can really utilize most the light with a vert or stadium set up

I don't know the facts, just an expirience with the wonderful system called law but it seems like that would be little evedence for a raid or even a warrent. 2, or even 3 measly 1000w bulb shouldn't set 'em off..

This is why I use cfls. My grow room during flower, with lights, fans, motors everything, uses at best 500 watts.
Where I live police are constatly going over houses looking for heat signitures. I had a friend down the street from me with 2 1000W lights going. They grow comercially for restarunts in the area, everything is legit. After about 6 months of them gworing the police came knocking on the door. Everything is vented and obviously no smell as there is nothing in there that shouldn't be. The cops came in took a look around and left. The choppers will see a 1000W light in a house even if you have fans, it's weather or not they want to bug you,. If they think you are just a small time grower or not worth their time they leave you alone. 99% of the time for one light they don't think you are worth it. If it is all properly vented, and cooled it takes a lot of the heat signiture away making you look even less like a grower. If you us water jackets that will almost eliminate your signiture. As long as they don't see anything major you should be okay. Again it depends on how your area is. I can go to my parents in the city and have 4X 1000W lights going and they wouldn't care, because all the big comercial growers live out in my area, not down in the city...okay well that's changing, and now they are looking there too, but they didn't used to.

Infrared cameras can't see through walls or ceilings (unless you have your grow room in a poorly insulated attic with tons of really hot lights). Anyone who tries to tell you different is seriously deluding themselves.
What they're looking for is hot air being vented out of a house from somewhere other than a dryer vent, so the obvious thing to do would be vent your hot air into another room, the crawlspace, or the dryer vent.
While technically they are supposed to have a warrant to do an infrared flyover, we all know that there are cops who don't play by the rules. Once they've seen the air venting out of your house, then they'll check with the electricity company to see if you're using substantially more juice than your neighbors. THEN they'll get a warrant and say that the electricity company tipped them off.
Pretty shady, if you ask me, but that's law enforcement for you.
Someone on another thread made a good point about flyovers and budget restraints. Most states are in such bad shape they're cutting back on just about everything this year, so maybe infrared flyovers will be on the chopping block, as well.

you guys watch too much john stoessel.its the heat signature there looking for and believe me it sticks out like a friggin sore thumb.if ur growin w/ anything but cfl they WILL see it.there is no way to disguise it,no matter who says what on here.they sure as fuck dont need warrents to do a flyover for detection.coming thru door,yes.ur taking a risk by growing,put on ur man panties and grow a set.

The cameras can only see differences in temp - they can not see thru walls or ceilings.
You can sit with a cutting tourch inside your house and it could not be seen unless you heated the walls or ceiling area to a temp. well above the ambiant tempratures.
You can talk all the bullshit you want, but I have run these cameras, and I know what I am talking about.
