Pinch a bud ; yield a bunch

I heard that if you pinch a bud off every so often ; that bud remains will infact produce more buds. I heard two branches start to stem from where the bud once was. I wouldn't suggest this for the top or anything, but a few at the bottom ; maybe 2 or 3. It won't kill the plant, from what I heard it will just make it stronger. Urban legend? It's gettin' pretty thick out there! :joint:

its true, but its not neccesarily worth it because the plant needs to draw energy to put towards creating that second bud when it could and would just be using that energy to fatten up all the other buds.

i'm not buying it. in veg if you clip a branch it will double out. during flower the plant is focused on budding. i don't think it would shoot out 2 new buds. i've trimmed buds early and had ones still on the plant. the ones i trimmed looked just like the others when finished except they were missing their tops.

fdd im talking from personal experience man, once during probably the first week of flowering, when the bud sites had just formed, i accidentally ended up snippin off a cola, and by the end of the grow i had two buds there at the top, like little twins. so its a fact

yeah stressing a plant wont make it any more potent either, cutting a bud off does nothing but stunt that branch for a week or two. i would be willing to bet a lot that the cola you accidentally cut off would have weighed more than the two buds that took it's place combined. plants just can't make something out of nothing.

Two tiny buds, and dried them out - it was nothing extravagant, there are so many buds. It's just ridiculous. I understand where you are coming from, but there will be plenty of buds with tops. Whats wrong with having one or two a little behind? Seems fine to me, big deal. When in Rome. I'm not encouraging anyone to go hack down branches and stems. I just mean pinch, literally one or two. Two stems will come and grow buds, it makes the plant stronger. The plant has so much energy it can't just not produce a bud where there isn't one. They know it is missing, even that won't drain its' energy - I believe it would make it stronger.

actually you just topped the bastard without knowing it.
I get a decent sized COLA on each node if i do this the right way...... not really hard and its has nothing to do with the flowers. just the growth pattern of the plant. it forces it to stay symmetrical .

what do you mean they woulda been there anyway?

the two buds. there would have been the top that was pinched plus the two buds. cutting anything during full flower is stressful. the plant will take energy from bud growth and focus it on repairing the damage. :peace:

i would say leave it!! the only reason anyone should mess with a plant during budding is for space issues

Is this then advisable, snipping the top?:blsmoke:

NEVER CUT ANYTHING UNLESS the plant is in the veg stage or first week of flowering (the week they START showing sex). it will stunt the plant if you cut on it during flowering. only top @every node for a mother plant u wanna take clones from too by the way. otherwise the plants main cola will be split up between every node. if you only top once a bit before flowering though (about the week it shows sex)it will make 2 main colas instead of the natural 1
