how big before flowering

I am growing in a 10'x10'x6.5' room and my main question is how tall do cuttings have to be in order to place uner a 12-12 light cycle without the risk of nute burn? I have heard that you can place them in hydro at 12'' tall with a ppm of 1000 for the transision stage and they wil continue to grow to a height of up to 40''. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me as I am trying to grow with them planted as close as possible and aiming for a single cola dominace and i have been told that placing a 12'' clone under a 12-12 cycle that they would be more prone to grow single cola rather than branching.

It's not really a question of how tall they are, but how mature they are. Your clones should be rooted and showing new growth for about a week before you go to 12/12. I'd start with a ppm closer to about 600, then raise it as the plants develop, going no higher than 1500 ppm. Pot plants branch out once they begin to mature, they just grow like that. You can trim some of the lower branches if you like, just don't go crazy. As long as you don't top the plant it should grow one big cola bud on top with smaller buds down below. As far as how tall they will grow after putting in 12/12 environment. A good rule of thumb is that you should start 12/12 when the plant is about half the size you want it to be when it's harvested. However, if you start from seed the plant should be at least 6 weeks old (from germination) before budding.

I have been told that with clones as soon as they root good you can plant them into flowering. they are mature because their mother was mature. That's how people are able to grow little plants in small areas like computer cases and filing cabinets. I didn't know the time from seeds to flower, so I was glad to read that. Good luck with your grow. looks like you have lots of room. something not too many people have........

sweet...thanks for the info....also how many plants do you think would be a good idea to grow in a room that size? I have some DWC setups which hold 8 each and tons of the killer green hydo kits that hold 4 each.....i was figuring 40.....or is that to many? I'm new to this...also I have the GH micro,bloom,grow, composit tea, florolicious, cool bloom......are all these a good idea? Or should I just use the 3 main and forget the rest....I have heard so many mixed answers to this question.

Plant count depend a great deal on systems used. I don't use the scrog or sog methods so I know very little about them. Lots of info on here about those. IMO if you have the room, a wider spacing between plants is better. Better light transfer. More product per plant. The opinions on this subject vary greatly. The best bet is get a grow under your belt. Do the best you can, what ever you get you get. What you will end up with, more valueable than ounces, is experiance. You cant buy that. Expect to make mistakes and stress, maybe even kill, a few plants.But thats normal. I'm on my second grow and the only reason I got anything off my first grow is that marijuanna is a weed.
Imo fancy foods are a waste of money until you know more about the basics. Its kinda like the sub-par golfer thinking a new set of Ping clubs will make him better. Keep it simple, and they will grow.......

good point...keep it simple....i have grown 2 harvests already but neither one turned out how i wanted I think I had to many in there, most of the under branches weren't developed.......this time i have put less in so more light is used.....we will see
