can you tell the difference between MH buds and HPs Buds?

Recently, I put 6 plants under a MH for 3 weeks of flower. The other day I switched the bulb to a HPS.

What I would like to know is there really a difference between flowering under a MH and flowering under a HPS?

I guess this is a question for someone who has done both. What kind of traits did you recieve from each one? Is switching from a MH to an HPS going to produce more even since they were flowering under a MH for 3 weeks?

I just want to hear peoples experiences with each light. Thanks a lot guys!

yes theres a big difference, hps is supposed to be for the flowering period as it has a different spectrum of light that represents the summer time which the plants need to flower, MH is a blue light to represent winter conditions!!!!

Ok, Buds will be better but what does it do to a plant when you use both? If you are trying to mimic seasons with the color spectrum of the light wouldn't using both cause a little confusion?

Lol. Like I said I was using the MH for 3 weeks and the buds look pretty decent, lots of hairs everywhere and a lot of bud sites, Biggest cola is like 3 inches long so far.

My balast takes both bulbs so I figured I've heard HPS is better so I'll try it. Then I started thinking if I've got nice buds on there so far how would HPS light change their development and how would it be better for them at this point?

either way mh or hps from start to finish is ok. back in the day that's all the old timers had grow with indoors. yes mh is the best for veg, and he is better to flower with, but both now you really have full light spectrum. mh does not lessen potency in the buds, and is not the reason buds are airy.

So, really I just spent $20 on a 400w HPS for pretty much no difference in yield or bud potency?

blue light represents winter??????

hps is for the flowering period that represents summer time??????????

and hps buds won't be better they will be bigger,

mh light will producer better buds but slightly lighter in weight

I appreciate that your just offering your help, but try to be a little bit more factual

because we are trying to mimic mother nature, and during the early months of the year the sun puts out more blue spectrum which is for plant growth, and as the month move on the sun spectrum changes tomore of a red. this is what we as growers are trying to mimic.:weed:

and unless you have actually really flowered a plant with a decent powered mh you wouldn't really have a clue about the amount of difference anyways.

Ok great, Thanks for that. So Since I switched to a HPS (also have a 200w CFL in there) I should expect to see faster/bigger bud growth then I have in the past 3 weeks with the MH?

from cfl's to hid's big difference, mh and hps not that much as to lumens but spectrum yes. and as for faster buds growth no, but better light penatration threw the plant.
