New 1000 Watt HPS! How far from Plants??

Hey I just put my 1-3 week old plants under my 1000 watt air cooled light.Just wanted to know how far do you think I should keep my light from my precious babies?? I have the light 3 feet high at the moment so my little guys dont burn. The temp at 3ft. is 74! Thanks for the help RIU!! Oh yeah im growing in 5 gallon dwc buckets,The only way to grow!

i keep mine at the roof most. but when the plant is done she normally 8"away

really, I have had mine within 6 inches of my plants, but they were also massively air-cooled, and they would not burn... without a sealed hood and air-cooling, I would say 12-18 inches from the plant..

again, this related to heat, so if they are even at 18 inches, and they start to burn, pull those fuckers back... 1000w is a biiiig light though, so you might need to keep it higher, such as how mygirls stated..

i have had the cola buds right up in my 4ft hood and never burnd up a bud. 20"fan YA

yeah.. I got a buddy that runs 4 1000w, all sealed hoods and air-cooled with a huge turbine looking fan... very nice setup... his buds hit the shields on the lights all the time... no problem.. no burns... its all in your setup, though

nothing i just grow them. i just topped my next grow. they are 2 1/2 to 3 weeks in veg.
